Role Summary :

We are looking for a hands-on Full Stack Architect with strong coding capability, deep system design experience, and proven expertise in building scalable, cloud-native web applications and backend platforms. The ideal candidate should be an Architect who can code, not a purely managerial or documentation-focused architect. The role requires strong architectural thinking, technical depth, clear design rationale, and the ability to create original, high-quality system designs.

Strong experience in MERN stack / JavaScript ecosystem is preferred, especially TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS / Express / Fastify, MongoDB / PostgreSQL, microservices, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern software architecture practices. Candidates from product-based / SaaS / platform engineering companies will be strongly preferred.

The company also uses Claude / GenAI tools, and the engineer is expected to critically evaluate AI-generated architecture or engineering outputs, identify gaps, limitations, risks, and quality issues, and improve them from an architecture and engineering excellence perspective.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications and backend platforms.

- Build high-performance backend services using Node.js / NestJS / Express / Fastify; Rust experience will be an added advantage.

- Own architecture design, system design, technology selection, domain modeling, and implementation strategy.

- Prepare detailed architecture documents covering architecture approach, component design, class diagrams, data/API flow, technology choices, scalability, security, trade-offs, risks, and mitigation plans.

- Develop APIs using GraphQL, REST, and gRPC.

- Build and deploy cloud-native applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, and cloud platforms such as GCP / AWS / Azure.

- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, and Kustomize.

- Work with databases and data platforms such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, CloudSQL, AlloyDB, BigQuery, dbt, and trocco.

- Implement monitoring, observability, performance tracking, and error analysis using tools such as Datadog, Sentry, and MixPanel.

- Participate actively in code reviews, architecture reviews, design discussions, sprint planning, and product roadmap discussions.

- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, data teams, and global stakeholders.

- Review Claude / GenAI-generated outputs and identify architectural gaps, missing design considerations, scalability concerns, security risks, weak trade-offs, and implementation limitations.

- Guide engineering teams while also contributing hands-on to development when required.

Required Skills :

- 10+ years of experience in full-stack / backend development and architecture.

- Strong hands-on coding experience in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks.

- Strong MERN stack exposure preferred : MongoDB, Express / NestJS / Fastify, React, Node.js.

- Backend experience with Node.js, NestJS, Express, Fastify; Rust / axum experience will be an added advantage.

- Strong experience in system design, solution architecture, HLD / LLD, design rationale, and architecture documentation.

- Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, DDD, asynchronous jobs, and event-driven architecture.

- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, gRPC, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud data platforms.

- Ability to explain architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, scalability approach, security considerations, and mitigation plans clearly.

- Good understanding of secure coding, performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and engineering best practices.

- Ability to review and improve Claude / GenAI-generated technical outputs from an architecture and engineering-quality perspective.

- Strong communication skills and ability to work with global / cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have :

- Experience with Rust and axum.

- Experience with Auth0 or similar authentication platforms.

- Experience with Cloud Pub/Sub or similar messaging systems.

- Familiarity with Claude, GitHub Copilot, or other AI-powered coding assistants.

- Exposure to Figma, Storybook, JIRA, Miro, Confluence, Slack, or Discord.

- Prior experience in product-based / SaaS / platform engineering companies.

- Experience working with Japanese clients or global distributed teams.
