As a Senior AI Engineer on the Appointment Manager and Alan teams, you will work at the frontier of agentic AI and live operational supply chain software. Appointment Manager is a mature, business-critical inward scheduling platform - enabling FourKites and our clients internal teams to manage and optimize appointment workflows. Alan is an outward-facing AI agent that brings intelligent, agentic appointment scheduling directly to our clients - about a year old, built on Pipedream, and rapidly gaining traction. LangGraph adoption is planned as the next evolution of our agentic architecture across both products.

This is a full-stack ownership role - you own the entire SDLC from requirements to release, with no dedicated QA, operating in a Kanban flow augmented by AI agents (FAST, QA Agent, repo-level subagents, Claude Code) at every stage. Grooming is async and lightweight - the PM leverages agents to write features, stories, and acceptance criteria. The approach is deliver first, improve next. You are not just a consumer of AI tooling - you actively shape how these agents get smarter.

What you'll be doing :

- Design and implement agentic workflows in Appointment Manager and Alan; drive LangGraph adoption as it is introduced into the stack

- Build and maintain microservices and workers in Java and/or GoLang on Kubernetes

- Contribute to Pipedream-based workflow orchestration on the Alan agent; contribute to LangGraph integration as planned

- Async grooming - consume agent-generated features, stories, and ACs from PM; clarify requirements and raise gaps as needed

- Write production-grade source code and unit tests; get PRs reviewed by peers

- Write and manage test cases in TestRail; implement and maintain automation suites

- Own release management, regression, and sanity testing end-to-end

- Manage PagerDuty on-call responsibilities for a live operational product

- Operate as man-in-the-loop across AI agent tooling (FAST, QA Agent, repo subagents, Claude Code) at every stage of delivery

- Actively contribute to the stability, accuracy, and capability improvement of internal AI agents

- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with agentic AI frameworks, workflow technologies, and industry trends

- Guide, mentor, and review the work of fellow developers and senior developers on the team

- Conduct code reviews across AM, Alan, and where needed other teams, ensuring quality, consistency, and engineering best practices

- Be a technical reference point for agentic architecture decisions within and beyond the Facilities engineering group

About the team :

Appointment Manager is a mature, business-critical inward scheduling platform - enabling FourKites and our clients internal teams to manage and optimize appointment workflows at scale. Any bug or defect has immediate real-world impact on our clients supply chain operations. In Facilities engineering, bugs are treated one priority higher than other products.

Alan is an outward-facing AI agent that brings intelligent, agentic appointment scheduling directly to our clients - automating and orchestrating scheduling workflows on their behalf. About a year old and rapidly gaining traction, Alan is deeply workflow-driven, built on Pipedream, and growing rapidly. LangGraph adoption is planned across both AM and Alan as the next evolution of our agentic architecture.

The team operates on Kanban - continuous flow, no sprint ceremonies, work pulled not pushed. Grooming is async and lightweight - the PM uses agents to write features, stories, and ACs; engineers consume, clarify, and deliver. The approach is deliver first, improve next. Every engineer owns the full delivery lifecycle : design, implementation, QA, test automation, release management, and on-call. AI agents (FAST, QA Agent, repo-level subagents, Claude Code) augment every stage of the SDLC. We are aggressively pushing the boundary of what AI-augmented software delivery looks like, and we want you to be a central part of that.

Who you are :

- 6-8 years of overall engineering experience with hands-on experience in agentic AI and workflow-based systems

- Hands-on experience with LangGraph - this is non-negotiable

- Proven experience deploying and operating AI agents in production environments

- Experience designing agentic workflow architecture - workers, workflow managers, and services

- Production-grade microservices in Java or GoLang (one mandatory, other a plus)

- Strong experience with Kubernetes for deploying and managing services

- Experience with Kafka for event-driven architectures

- Familiarity with ArgoCD for release and deployment management

- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or ElasticSearch

- Hands-on with TestRail or equivalent test management tooling

- Full SDLC ownership experience - dev, QA, test automation, and release with no dedicated QA support

- PagerDuty or equivalent on-call experience on a live operational product

- Experience with Amazon Web Services or Azure

- Pipedream experience is a plus

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

- Ability to work independently with high ownership in a fast-moving, Kanban-based environment

- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide developers and senior developers - through code reviews, design discussions, and day-to-day collaboration

- Comfortable being a technical reference point for peers and cross-team engineers on agentic systems and workflow architecture
