Senior Software Engineer (SSE1) - Full Stack Engineer
Build the next generation of First American's business platforms with a futuristic, cloud-native stack - Python, NestJS, Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
Role Details :
Role : Senior Software Engineer (SSE1)
Function : Full Stack Engineering
Location : Remote / Bengaluru, India
Experience : 5+ Years
Employment : Full-Time
About First American India :
First American (India) Private Limited (FAI) is a Global Capability Centre (GCC) of the First American Financial Corporation (FAF: NYSE) - a leading provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions for real estate transactions since 1889.
FAI delivers Software Development, IT Infrastructure, Data & Analytics, back-office, and knowledge-processing operations to support First American's global operations across the US, UK, Australia & Canada.
We build technology that powers millions of real-estate transactions, with a people-first culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and solving real-world problems at scale.
Role Summary :
As a Senior Software Engineer (SSE1) - Full Stack, you will help shape and deliver high-impact modernization initiatives at FAI. You will probe stated and unstated needs of business stakeholders, translate complex functional requirements into clean system designs, and build cloud-native, AI-assisted full-stack applications that simplify, accelerate, and outperform legacy workflows.
You will own modules end-to-end across Python services, NestJS APIs, and Next.js / React front-ends in TypeScript, while adhering to the team's coding standards and a continuous Build-Integrate-Test (Agile) approach. You will apply solid debugging and performance-tuning concepts, review peer code, and use AI-assisted developer tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
Strategic Focus - Platform Modernization :
Re-platform business-critical capabilities into modern, in-house micro-services and React / Next.js experiences on AWS - improving total cost of ownership, performance, observability, and product velocity, while raising the engineering bar through AI-assisted development practices.
Objectives of the Role - What You'll Do :
- Partner with business analysts, product managers, and domain SMEs to discover, document, and translate complex business workflows into modern micro-services and UIs.
- Design and deliver scalable, secure, event-driven full-stack features using Python (FastAPI / Django) and NestJS on the back-end, and Next.js + React + TypeScript on the front-end.
- Build and consume well-documented REST and GraphQL APIs (OpenAPI / Swagger) that cleanly decouple front-ends from back-end services and external dependencies.
- Author data-extraction, transformation, and migration utilities to move data from legacy systems into modern PostgreSQL and DynamoDB stores.
- Collaborate on AWS-native deployments using Lambda, ECS / EKS, S3, RDS, and DynamoDB, with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Champion AI-assisted development - leverage Cursor, Claude Code, and Copilot for code generation, refactoring, test scaffolding, and developer-productivity tooling.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and performance-tune applications across the stack; participate in on-call and operational excellence rotations for production workloads.
- Mentor associate engineers, share learnings, and help establish reusable patterns and platform building blocks for other teams across FAI.
Technical Skills :
1. Front-End :
- React.js
- Next.js (App Router)
- TypeScript
- HTML5 / CSS3
- Tailwind / Shadcn UI, React Query / Zustand.
2. Back-End :
- Python (FastAPI / Django)
- NestJS (Node.js) TypeScript
- REST / OpenAPI / Swagger
- GraphQL, Microservices & Event-Driven Patterns.
3. Database :
- PostgreSQL
- DynamoDB
- Redis
- OpenSearch / Elasticsearch.
4. Cloud & DevOps :
- AWS (Lambda, ECS / EKS, S3, RDS)
- CI/CD Pipelines
- Git / GitHub / GitLab
- Terraform / CloudFormation, Docker / Kubernetes.
5. AI-Assisted Engineering :
- Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, LLM-driven Test & Migration Tooling.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on full-stack software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and TypeScript in production systems.
- Proven experience building React.js / Next.js front-ends and NestJS / Python service back-ends.
- Working knowledge of AWS, micro-service architecture, and at least one of PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Experience with serverless patterns (AWS Lambda, Step Functions) and event-driven architectures (SNS/SQS, Kafka).
- Familiarity with Git-based version control, Agile / Scrum, and JIRA-based delivery practices.
- Detail-oriented mindset focused on delivering high-quality, efficient, and maintainable software.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Nice to Have :
- Exposure to Salesforce (admin, developer, or integration perspective) is an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience designing and productionizing AI use cases (LLM-powered features, RAG, agentic workflows, or ML inference services) will be an added advantage.
- Background in observability tooling (CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Exposure to applying LLMs to internal developer productivity.
What Makes You a Great Fit :
You think in platforms and systems, bring a strong product mindset - obsessing over user outcomes, business value, and the "why" behind every feature - and balance technical depth with empathy for the customer. You navigate ambiguity well, are passionate about transforming real-estate technology, and are energised by building modern, cloud-native, AI-augmented experiences. You bring the rigour, ownership, and collaborative spirit to take peers along on that journey.
