Responsibilities:
- Take technical specifications and implement them as working software and firmware features for PIC64-HPSC and related multi-core SoC platforms.
- Develop and debug Linux/RTOS drivers, platform/debug tools, boot software, and related embedded software needed to deliver assigned features.
- Deliver reviewed and tested feature changes, including unit/integration testing as appropriate, and integrate completed work into the main branch.
- Collaborate with the software team to clarify requirements, review technical documents, resolve implementation questions, and ensure delivered features meet the intended specification.
- Create and update documentation for delivered components, including specifications, design notes, user guides, release notes, and other handoff material needed by internal teams.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5+ years of related work experience in Software development for embedded systems.
- Solid working knowledge of C and Python.
- Experience with software development tools such as Git/Bitbucket, Jira and VSCode.
- Experience working in a Linux development environment.
- Experience using Claude Code, GitHub CoPilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools is required.
- Understanding of CPU architectures, caches, interconnects, and peripherals, and an ability to comprehend hardware documentation.
- Knowledge of RISC-V and those open-source specifications is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience developing high-quality code.
- Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS environments, device drivers, or board support packages.
- Experience using Bitbucket/GitHub and the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA/Confluence).
- Experience working with a lab environment for test execution and debug.
- Experience working with the QEMU emulator for embedded software development, test execution, or debug would be helpful.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and experience as part of a collaborative development team.
