Key Responsibilities :

Technology Ownership :

- Take end-to-end ownership of all customer-facing, vendor-facing and internal technology platforms.

- Understand and manage applications, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and third-party integrations.

- Ensure platform stability, scalability, security and business continuity.

- Create and maintain a complete technology inventory covering applications, repositories, services, databases and integrations.

- Identify technology risks and prepare mitigation plans.

- Reduce dependency on individual developers, vendors or external agencies.

Product Engineering :

- Lead product development for Mealawe, DeskDyne, CRM, operations systems and internal tools.

- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and execution plans.

- Estimate development effort, dependencies and delivery timelines.

- Ensure timely delivery of features and product improvements.

- Balance speed, quality, technical debt and business priorities.

- Avoid unnecessary rewrites and over-engineering.

- Work closely with the Founder, business heads, operations and product teams.

Hands-on Development :

- Remain actively involved in coding, code reviews, debugging and technical decision-making.

- Review pull requests and maintain coding standards.

- Guide frontend, backend, mobile and cloud implementation.

- Improve performance, maintainability and system reliability.

- Identify security gaps, architecture weaknesses and performance bottlenecks.

- Support developers in resolving complex technical and production issues.

Architecture :

- Review and improve the existing technology architecture.

- Design scalable systems for orders, subscriptions, payments, kitchens, vendors and delivery operations.

- Build reliable REST APIs and integrations.

- Implement retry, failure handling and reconciliation mechanisms.

- Improve application modularity and maintainability.

- Ensure architecture decisions are practical and aligned with business needs.

AWS and DevOps :

- Own AWS production, staging and development environments.

- Manage EC2, ELB, Auto Scaling, Route 53, S3, SES, IAM, CloudWatch and related services.

- Review infrastructure usage, security and cost efficiency.

- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

- Implement safe deployment, rollback and release management processes.

- Configure production monitoring, alerts and logging.

- Ensure backup, restoration and disaster-recovery readiness.

- Securely manage environment variables, secrets and API credentials.

Security :

- Implement role-based access control and least-privilege principles.

- Manage secure access across AWS, GitHub, databases and third-party platforms.

- Ensure MFA, credential rotation and secure secret management.

- Review application dependencies and vulnerabilities.

- Secure APIs, authentication and authorisation workflows.

- Maintain access records and audit trails.

- Ensure company systems are not controlled through personal email accounts.

Production Support :

- Establish production incident management and escalation processes.

- Monitor application errors, API failures, failed payments and system performance.

- Conduct root-cause analysis for major incidents.

- Implement preventive actions after production failures.

- Improve uptime, response time and issue-resolution time.

- Create incident runbooks and support procedures.

Team Leadership :

- Lead, mentor and evaluate the existing engineering team.

- Define ownership across frontend, backend, QA, mobile and DevOps.

- Conduct code reviews, sprint planning and technical reviews.

- Set clear expectations for quality, timelines and accountability.

- Identify skill gaps and recommend hiring or training.

- Participate in technical recruitment and candidate evaluation.

- Manage external vendors, agencies and freelancers when required.

Applied AI and Automation :

- Identify practical AI and automation opportunities across products and internal operations.

- Integrate external AI APIs and LLM-based tools where relevant.

- Guide responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools.

- Review AI-generated code for quality, security and maintainability.

- Monitor AI API cost, data privacy and output quality.

- Build automation for sales, operations, reporting and customer support.

Required Skills :

- 7-10 years of software development experience.

- Minimum 2 years in a Technical Lead, Engineering Lead or Team Lead role.

- Strong hands-on experience in Node.js and Express.js.

- Strong experience in Angular and TypeScript.

- Experience with Ionic and Capacitor.

- Strong experience with MongoDB, Mongoose and Redis.

- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.

- Strong understanding of authentication and authorisation.

- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure.

- Experience with CI/CD, deployments and release management.

- Experience managing production systems.

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

- Experience leading and mentoring developers.

- Experience with third-party API integrations.

- Good understanding of application security.

- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
