We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader who can scale our technology organization, strengthen our platform, and drive the next phase of product and engineering growth.

Role Overview :

As the Head of Engineering, you will own the entire technology organization, including Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Delivery. You will work closely with the founders to define technology strategy, scale the engineering team, improve platform reliability, and deliver enterprise-ready products.

This is a player-coach role for a leader who has scaled B2B SaaS engineering organizations and remains deeply involved in architecture, coding, infrastructure, and production systems.

Key Responsibilities :

- Engineering Leadership : Scale the technology organization from 12 to 40+ professionals. Build strong engineering teams, hire and mentor Engineering Managers and Tech Leads, and establish career frameworks and performance processes.

- Platform Architecture & Scalability : Lead the evolution of a workflow orchestration platform from 100M+ to 1B+ monthly executions, with multi-region deployment, tenant isolation, and 99.99% availability.

- AI Platform Strategy : Drive technical direction for Agentic AI, RAG, knowledge infrastructure, model routing, evaluation frameworks, and fine-tuning strategies.

- Reliability & Operations : Establish SLOs, incident management, on-call practices, and observability systems. Improve reliability and reduce detection and resolution times for traditional and LLM-related failures.

- Enterprise Security & Compliance : Lead SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, data residency, and relevant enterprise security initiatives. Manage security reviews and technical due diligence with enterprise customers.

- Delivery & Execution : Partner with product teams and founders to ensure predictable delivery, effective release management, quality standards, and successful enterprise deployments.

- Cost & Unit Economics : Own infrastructure and LLM expenditure. Optimize inference costs, model routing, caching, and infrastructure utilization to improve gross margins.

- Customer & Technical Engagement : Collaborate with enterprise CTOs and architecture teams, lead technical evaluations, resolve production challenges, and translate customer needs into product improvements.

- Hands-On Technical Leadership : Review architecture and critical pull requests, design and ship production features, and contribute across backend, frontend, CI/CD, Kubernetes, AWS, and infrastructure. Be ready to debug production issues when it matters.

- Core Platform : Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, BullMQ, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.

- AI & Orchestration : LangGraph, Anthropic Claude API, multi-agent workflows, and AI-assisted development tools.

- Search & Retrieval : AWS OpenSearch, PGVector, Pinecone, and Qdrant.

- Backend & Infrastructure : Next.js, AWS Lambda, PostgreSQL, and Supabase.

- Observability : Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger, Sentry, LangFuse, and LangSmith.

- Design & Prototyping : Lovable and modern UI development tools.

What We're Looking For :

- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading B2B SaaS engineering organizations.

- Proven experience managing managers and scaling teams from approximately 10 to 50+ members.

- Experience leading engineering during significant business and revenue growth.

- Strong expertise in distributed systems, multi-tenant platforms, and high-scale production environments.

- Experience operating platforms handling 1B+ events or executions per month across regions.

- Deep ML expertise, including model training or fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, model behavior, and failure analysis.

- Hands-on experience building and productionizing Agentic AI and RAG systems.

- Strong understanding of orchestration, tool use, memory, context management, retrieval quality, latency, and cost optimization.

- Experience leading SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 initiatives and handling enterprise security assessments.

- Proven track record of building engineering teams, hiring senior talent, and establishing career ladders and hiring standards.

- Strong hands-on technical skills across Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, networking, IAM, and infrastructure as code.

- Recent experience shipping and deploying production features and participating in on-call or incident response.

- Excellent communication skills with founders, boards, engineering teams, and enterprise technology leaders.

- Ability to balance architecture, engineering execution, customer requirements, and business economics.
