Role Overview :
As the Data Protection Officer, you will serve as the primary authority on privacy governance, ensuring the organization and its clients maintain rigorous standards for data handling.
You will bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and legal requirements, working closely with executive leadership, IT security teams, and legal counsel to embed privacy-by-design principles into all business processes.
Your work will directly influence the company's risk posture, ensuring that data protection strategies are not only compliant with global regulations but also serve as a competitive advantage in maintaining client trust and operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the development and implementation of enterprise privacy frameworks to ensure alignment with global standards and local regulations including the DPDP Act, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
- Conduct comprehensive data protection impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks associated with new processing activities or technology deployments.
- Manage the end-to-end compliance lifecycle, including monitoring regulatory changes and translating them into actionable policies for internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the incident response process for data breaches, coordinating with legal and technical teams to ensure timely reporting and remediation.
- Facilitate regular training and awareness programs to foster a culture of data privacy and security across all levels of the organization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and data subjects, handling inquiries and audits with professional transparency.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in Information Security Management and Risk Management, with a proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into scalable enterprise privacy solutions.
- Deep technical understanding of global data protection laws, specifically the DPDP Act, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA, and their practical application within large-scale digital environments.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executive decision-making and lead cross-functional teams through complex compliance transitions.
- Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate security architectures and identify vulnerabilities in data processing workflows.
- Professional certification in data privacy or information security is highly preferred, coupled with a track record of managing governance frameworks for 10-15 years.
- Ability to thrive in a high-stakes environment in Gurgaon, maintaining a proactive approach to evolving regulatory landscapes and business requirements.
