Job Description

About:

A Chennai-based firm, managing PMS and AIF strategies in Indian public markets with a long-term, all-weather investment philosophy. We are a boutique founder led team, and our investment process increasingly uses data alongside fundamental research to understand companies, industries and cycles.

We are building the next layer of our research infrastructure: a system that can bring together years of financial, market and industry data and, over time, represent how companies, products, customers, suppliers, industries and external signals relate to one another.

Your first responsibility is simple: make our data infrastructure dependable. You will own and improve the pipelines that feed our investment research, and make sure that data is collected correctly, validated, historically consistent, easy to query and safe for the investment team to use.

But the role will evolve beyond maintaining pipelines. As our research platform develops, you will work directly with the investment team to translate the way we understand companies into data structures and systems: Company - Product - Customer - End Market - Supplier - External Driver.

The investment team will define what these relationships mean. Your job will be to figure out how we reliably represent, populate, version and query them.

This is a hands-on engineering role with close collaboration with the founding team. You do not need to arrive knowing investing; we can teach you the domain.

Technical Skills:

- Strong Python (pandas/NumPy) and SQL, with PostgreSQL preferred

- Hands-on experience building or maintaining ETL / data pipelines

- Understanding of databases and data modelling

- Comfort with APIs, web data, data validation and testing, Git and Linux

Data & Systems Thinking:

- Thinks about duplicates, missing data, revisions, failed jobs and reruns rather than assuming the happy path

- Can debug a pipeline when the answer isn't obvious

- Can take an ambiguous problem and break it into something buildable

Learning & Curiosity:

- Intensely curious and willing to learn a domain you may know little about today

- Uses modern AI coding tools intelligently, while understanding, testing and owning what gets built

Useful, but not mandatory:

- AWS, orchestration/scheduling tools, data warehouses, point-in-time datasets, financial/market data, Playwright/Selenium. We would rather hire a strong learner than someone who simply checks every technology box.

What Works:

- 1 - 3 years of experience building data pipelines or backend/data systems

- We are deliberately looking for someone early in their career with a steep learning curve. More important than the number of years is evidence that you have actually built things that work.
