Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will define, lead, and execute the digital transformation strategy across the built environment driving innovation in Digital Design, Digital Construction, and Digital Twin technologies.

This role focuses on transforming how buildings, campuses, and urban assets are designed, constructed, and operated using data, automation, and intelligent systems. The CTO will also extend this vision into infrastructure domains such as transportation, utilities, and smart city systems, ensuring interoperability across the entire built ecosystem.

1. Technology Vision & Strategic Leadership:

- Develop and implement a technology roadmap that positions the organization as a digital transformation leader in the built environment sector, with scalable applications in infrastructure.

- Integrate Digital Design (BIM, computational design, generative workflows), Digital Construction (4D/5D modeling, connected construction, field automation), and Digital Twin ecosystems (smart asset management, operational intelligence).

- Establish a data-centric foundation for lifecycle management of buildings and facilities from design and delivery to operations and performance monitoring.

- Align digital strategies with global AECO standards (ISO 19650, IFC, COBie) and sustainability frameworks (carbon tracking, circular construction, ESG compliance).

2. Innovation & Emerging Technology Leadership:

- Lead research, innovation, and prototyping in emerging technologies such as AI/ML for design optimization, IoT for building performance, AR/VR for immersive collaboration, and robotics for construction automation.

- Drive the creation of Digital Twin platforms integrating BIM, IoT, and GIS data for real-time asset visualization, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiency.

- Introduce AI-driven analytics and simulation tools to support data-informed design and construction decision-making.

- Partner with universities, software vendors, and technology startups to continuously evolve the companys innovation pipeline.

3. Digital Architecture, Platforms & Data Ecosystem:

- Architect a unified Digital Backbone a cloud-based ecosystem integrating BIM, CDE (Common Data Environment), ERP, IoT, and analytics platforms.

- Ensure data interoperability, security, and governance across the project lifecycle, enabling seamless collaboration among designers, contractors, and operators.

- Oversee DevOps, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure best practices to support scalable enterprise-grade deployment.

- Champion the integration of sustainability and performance data into Digital Twin platforms to support Net Zero and ESG objectives.

4. Talent Development & Digital Culture:

- Build, inspire, and mentor multidisciplinary teams including BIM technologists, software developers, data engineers, and digital consultants.

- Foster a digital-first culture centered on collaboration, experimentation, and excellence.

- Establish structured digital upskilling programs to embed digital fluency across engineering, design, and operations teams.

- Create internal innovation labs to incubate and test transformative ideas and pilot technologies.

5. Client, Partner & Ecosystem Collaboration:

- Collaborate with leadership to translate client and project needs into scalable digital solutions that drive measurable outcomes speed, quality, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

- Develop strategic partnerships with technology providers (Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble, Esri, Microsoft, etc.) to co-create integrated solutions for the built environment.

- Engage with industry alliances, smart building councils, and standards bodies to influence digital adoption and policy frameworks.

- Work closely with clients and delivery teams to build Digital Transformation roadmaps tailored to the built environment lifecycle.

6. Operational Excellence & Value Realization:

- Define and monitor KPIs for digital maturity, ROI, and efficiency gains across the organization.

- Optimize technology budgets, licensing, and vendor ecosystems for scalability and financial sustainability.

- Lead initiatives in process automation, workflow optimization, and predictive analytics to enhance project delivery.

- Ensure that technology initiatives deliver measurable business value and client impact across both built and infrastructure domains.

7. Ideal Profile:

- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in AECO technology, digital transformation, or building design/delivery innovation.

- Proven expertise in BIM strategy, Digital Twin deployment, and smart building technologies.

- Strong understanding of data-driven delivery models, cloud ecosystems, and AI/ML applications in the built environment.

- Experience engaging with public and private sector clients across commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

- Strategic thinker with strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
