ABOUT THE ROLE :

The Chief Engineer - Artificial Intelligence will define and lead the company's AI engineering architecture, standards, and production implementation.

This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role responsible for building reliable AI platforms, guiding AI/ML engineers, and driving AI innovation across products and business functions.

The primary objective is to build secure, scalable, reusable AI capabilities that move from experimentation to reliable production use.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

AI Strategy & Architecture :

- Define AI engineering strategy and technical roadmap.

- Evaluate and select AI models, frameworks, vector databases, and platforms.

- Make build-versus-buy and open-source-versus-commercial decisions.

- Design scalable, reusable, secure, and cost-effective AI solutions.

Production AI Engineering :

- Lead AI initiatives from concept through production deployment.

- Build AI services, APIs, pipelines, and platform components.

- Establish AI development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support standards.

- Resolve issues related to model quality, retrieval performance, reliability, and cost.

LLM, RAG & Agentic AI :

- Design and implement LLM applications.

- Build enterprise-grade Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.

- Develop Agentic AI workflows and intelligent automation systems.

- Implement document processing, embeddings, retrieval pipelines, and response generation systems.

- Improve AI quality through prompt engineering and retrieval optimization.

AI Security & Responsible AI :

- Establish standards for quality, safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.

- Implement safeguards against hallucinations and unsafe outputs.

- Ensure data privacy, security, role-based access controls, and audit compliance.

- Support responsible AI practices across all AI initiatives.

Platform Engineering & Integration :

- Create reusable AI capabilities across products and teams.

- Integrate AI services with applications, databases, and enterprise systems.

- Monitor model performance, usage, reliability, and operational costs.

- Reduce dependency on external vendors and single-model ecosystems.

Technical Leadership :

- Define AI engineering standards and best practices.

- Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews.

- Mentor AI engineers, ML engineers, and development teams.

- Support hiring and capability development.

- Partner with business and product teams to deliver measurable AI solutions.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS :

- 10+ Years of Software Engineering Experience.

- Minimum 5+ Years of AI/ML Engineering Experience.

- Proven Experience Deploying AI Solutions to Production.

- Strong Python Development Experience.

- FastAPI Experience.

- Strong Knowledge of LLMs.

- Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).

- Experience with Prompt Engineering.

- Experience with Embeddings and Vector Search.

- Experience with Agentic AI Systems.

- Knowledge of Cloud Architecture (AWS Preferred).

- Experience with Microservices and Distributed Systems.

- Understanding of Application Security and Data Privacy.

- Strong Leadership and Team Management Skills.

- Excellent Communication and Stakeholder Management Ability.
