Locus is looking for a highly skilled Software Development Engineer - 3 (Backend Engineer) to architect, build, and scale high-performance backend systems powering its core platform. You will solve complex engineering challenges involving distributed systems, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and platform scalability while driving technical excellence across teams.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.

- Own architecture and design decisions for critical backend modules and platform components.

- Build and optimize microservices-based systems with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Solve complex engineering challenges involving distributed systems, multithreading, and asynchronous programming.

- Analyze and resolve production issues while ensuring high availability and system performance.

- Design and optimize scalable data storage solutions using Relational and NoSQL databases.

- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to improve platform reliability and observability.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment automation.

- Work extensively with AWS / GCP / Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes environments.

- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive engineering best practices across teams.

- Document system architecture, APIs, and technical workflows to enable strong knowledge sharing.

Mandatory Requirements :

- 5+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Java (Spring / Spring Boot).

- Must have worked as SDE-2 or SDE-3 for at least 2.5 years in a Decacorn or reputed product company. Designation should be clearly reflected in the resume.

- Strong hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and Microservices Architecture.

- Strong understanding of Distributed Systems, Multithreading, and Async Programming.

- Experience with Relational and NoSQL Databases.

- Hands-on exposure to Kafka / RabbitMQ and Redis / Memcached.

- Experience working with AWS / GCP / Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

- Must have worked on core product/platform engineering teams, not support, implementation, or internal tooling teams.

- Demonstrated ownership of backend systems including architecture/design decisions, scalability improvements, performance optimization, and measurable production impact.

- Experience from top tech-first product companies, including Series B+ / Unicorn / Decacorn startups or global product organizations such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or similar companies.

- Strong preference for candidates with minimum 2 years stability across previous organizations.

- B.Tech in Computer Science or related field from Tier 1 / Tier 2 colleges preferred.
