Location : Pune

We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Lead to design, build, and lead the development of scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and team leadership, along with the ability to drive projects end-to-end while maintaining high engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design and development of backend services using Java and Spring Boot

- Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices-based systems

- Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance distributed systems

- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to backend engineers

- Drive end-to-end project delivery, from requirements to production release

- Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions

- Ensure best practices in authentication, authorization, caching, and messaging systems

- Define and maintain technical documentation, including API specs, architecture decisions (ADR), and onboarding guides

- Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions

- Support CI/CD pipelines and production deployments

Must-Have Skills & Experience :

- 6 to 8 years of backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot

- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture, and asynchronous systems

- Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis

- Proven experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance distributed systems

- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines

- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms

- Experience with caching strategies and messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ

- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and concurrency

- Proven experience in leading teams and delivering projects end-to-end

- Excellent technical documentation skills, including writing technical specifications, process documents, API documentation, architecture decision records (ADR), and onboarding documentation

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Architecture, or Hexagonal Architecture

- Experience working on fintech systems, including :

- Lending workflows (origination, underwriting, repayment)

- Digital wallets and payment integrations (UPI, BBPS, Razorpay, etc.)

- Understanding of financial data security and privacy best practices

- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar
