Role Overview :
As an Azure Database Migration Lead, you will serve as the technical architect and strategic advisor for complex data transformation initiatives.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, cloud architects, and key business stakeholders to transition legacy on-premise environments into robust, scalable Azure cloud ecosystems.
By spearheading the end-to-end migration lifecycle from assessment and schema conversion to cutover you will directly impact the organizations operational efficiency, data security, and long-term digital agility.
This role is pivotal in ensuring zero-downtime transitions that empower our clients to leverage the full power of cloud-native data services.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and execute large-scale database migration strategies to Azure SQL and PostgreSQL, ensuring high availability and minimal business disruption for enterprise clients.
- Lead technical discovery workshops to assess existing database landscapes, identifying potential bottlenecks and performance optimization opportunities before migration.
- Design and implement automated migration pipelines and data validation frameworks to maintain data integrity and consistency throughout the transition process.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to enforce compliance standards and best practices within the Azure environment, safeguarding critical business assets.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on troubleshooting complex migration issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in migrating complex database workloads to Azure, with a deep understanding of Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and related cloud services.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end data migration projects, utilizing tools like Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) and SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) to streamline workflows.
- Strong consultative communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical migration roadmaps into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, specifically in performance tuning, query optimization, and resolving connectivity or latency issues in hybrid cloud environments.
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, complemented by relevant Azure certifications.
- High degree of adaptability and self-motivation, capable of delivering high-impact results in a distributed, remote-first work environment across multiple time zones.
