Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation following IaC best practices.
- Operate and optimise AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, DMS, AppFlow, Step Functions, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Airflow, ECS, and ECR.
- Support data engineers with platform-level requirements, incident resolution, access issues, and operational blockers.
- Drive FinOps initiatives: cost visibility, optimisation, right-sizing, and waste reduction across the data platform.
- Build PoCs and technical evaluations for modernisation initiatives.
Required Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services: S3, Glue, Redshift, DMS, AppFlow, Athena (nice-to-have).
- Workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow and AWS Step Functions.
- Terraform and AWS CloudFormation (modular IaC, environments, state management).
- Git-based workflows using GitHub.
- Container platforms: ECS, ECR (knowledge preferred).
- Cost optimisation for Glue, Redshift, S3, data transfer, and orchestration services.
- Python (boto3, Glue jobs, automation).
- SQL (Redshift, Athena).
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Apache Iceberg / modern table formats.
- Data platform modernisation or large-scale migration experience.
- Multi-account AWS environments against this requirement.
