About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced AVEVA PI Engineer to design, implement, administer, maintain, and support industrial data solutions using the AVEVA PI System.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Interfaces/Connectors, PI Vision, data integration, and troubleshooting in industrial or manufacturing environments.

The role involves working closely with OT, IT, engineering, manufacturing, process, and data teams to ensure reliable collection, contextualization, visualization, and availability of operational and time-series data.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, configure, implement, and maintain AVEVA PI System solutions for collecting and managing industrial time-series data.

- Administer and support PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, PI Vision, and related PI System components.

- Configure PI interfaces, connectors, and data sources to collect real-time data from industrial systems and equipment.

- Develop and maintain PI AF databases, elements, templates, attributes, hierarchies, and event frames.

- Configure and optimize PI tags, tag structures, data collection, compression, and data retention policies.

- Develop operational dashboards and visualizations using PI Vision to provide meaningful insights into plant and equipment performance.

- Troubleshoot data collection, connectivity, interface, performance, and PI System availability issues.

- Monitor PI System health, data flow, interfaces, services, and infrastructure to ensure reliable operation.

- Perform root-cause analysis for missing, delayed, inaccurate, or inconsistent time-series data.

- Work with OT and plant engineering teams to understand instrumentation, process data, equipment, and operational requirements.

- Integrate PI System with industrial control systems, historians, databases, MES, ERP, and other enterprise applications.

- Support data migration, PI System upgrades, server migrations, and environment modernization initiatives.

- Develop and maintain calculations, analyses, event frames, notifications, and other PI System functionalities.

- Optimize PI System performance, scalability, data storage, and data retrieval.

- Develop technical documentation covering PI architecture, configurations, interfaces, data flows, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes.

- Participate in system testing, deployment, validation, and production support activities.

- Ensure appropriate security, access controls, backup, recovery, and operational standards are followed.

- Collaborate with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, OT, application, and data engineering teams on PI-related initiatives.

- Support integration of industrial data into enterprise analytics, reporting, and digital transformation platforms.

Required Technical Skills :

- Strong hands-on experience with AVEVA PI System / OSIsoft PI System.

- Strong experience with PI Data Archive.

- Hands-on experience with PI Asset Framework (AF).

- Experience with PI Vision and development of industrial dashboards.

- Strong understanding of PI tags, attributes, templates, elements, event frames, and time-series data.

- Experience configuring and troubleshooting PI Interfaces and/or PI Connectors.

- Good understanding of real-time industrial data collection and historian architectures.

- Experience working with SQL databases and database integrations.

- Knowledge of REST APIs and data integration technologies.

- Experience with Windows Server environments and related system administration concepts.

- Good understanding of networking, connectivity, and troubleshooting in industrial environments.

- Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies is desirable.

PI Integration & Industrial Systems :

- Experience integrating PI with industrial systems such as SCADA, DCS, PLC, MES, or other plant systems.

- Understanding of OPC, OPC DA, OPC UA, and industrial communication protocols is desirable.

- Experience integrating PI data with enterprise applications, data lakes, analytics platforms, or cloud environments.

- Understanding of OT/IT integration and industrial data architectures.

Performance & Support :

- Monitor PI infrastructure and troubleshoot performance and availability issues.

- Analyze interface health, data latency, data gaps, and system errors.

- Perform capacity planning and recommend improvements to PI infrastructure.

- Support backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity requirements.

- Participate in incident, problem, and change-management processes.

- Maintain system stability and ensure timely resolution of production issues.

Good to Have Skills :

- Experience with AVEVA Data Hub or PI Cloud Connect.

- Exposure to AVEVA System Platform and other AVEVA industrial solutions.

- Knowledge of PI Web API.

- Experience with PI Integrator for Business Analytics.

- Exposure to cloud platforms and industrial IoT solutions.

- Knowledge of Power BI or other enterprise visualization platforms.

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or modern application environments is an advantage.

- Exposure to industrial cybersecurity and OT security practices.

Education :

- A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
