Job Description : Automation Engineer

Position Overview :

We are seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our Virtualization Engineering Team.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in VMware automation tools, including VMware Aria Suite (formerly vRealize Suite), designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for virtualized environments, including VMware and other virtualization platforms. This role focuses on streamlining operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of virtualized infrastructure through automation.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement automation workflows using VMware Aria Suite products and VMware PowerCLI, Power shell or other tools

- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible for VMware environments.

- Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of vCenter, ESX hosts, virtual machines, clusters, and other VMware resources.

- Create and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate routine tasks.

VMware Aria Suite Products Management :

- Design, deploy, and manage VMware Aria Suite products including Aria Orchestrator (vRO), Aria Automation (vRA), Aria Operations (vROps) and Aria Operations for Logs.

- Execute and automate upgrade and patching procedures for Aria Suite products across development, staging, and production environments.

- Manage complete product lifecycle including pre-upgrade validation, dependency checks, snapshot management, and post-upgrade verification.

- Document upgrade runbooks and procedures for repeatability and knowledge transfer.

Automation :

- Hands-on experience with scripting languages : PowerShell, Python, Bash, and Groovy.

- Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Ansible,

- Strong Jenkins knowledge for CI/CD pipeline setup and automation orchestration.

- Experience with version control (Git/GitLab/GitHub)

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automation workflows into DevOps processes.

- REST API development and integration knowledge.

- Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM integrations for change and incident management would be added advantage

- Ability to resolve complex issues related to resource contention, automation failures, upgrade failures, and system reliability.

Experience and Qualifications :

- 5+ years of Infrastructure/Automation/DevOps Engineering experience.

- 7+ years hands-on with VMware platforms, including vSphere and Aria Suite products.

- Proven track record of managing production automation and infrastructure operations.

- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- Experience working in regulated or high-availability environments is a plus.
