Role Overview :
As an AVP - Data Scientist, you will spearhead high-impact analytical initiatives within our banking division, serving as a bridge between complex data architecture and strategic business decision-making. You will lead a high-performing team of data scientists to solve critical banking challenges, ranging from credit risk modeling and fraud detection to customer lifecycle management.
Working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional business heads, you will translate raw data into actionable insights that drive profitability, mitigate operational risks, and enhance customer experience. This role is pivotal in shaping our data-driven culture and ensuring our analytical products maintain a competitive edge in the financial services landscape.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and deploy advanced statistical models to optimize credit underwriting and risk assessment processes, directly impacting the bank's bottom-line performance.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning projects, from hypothesis generation and feature engineering to model validation and production deployment.
- Mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation to ensure the delivery of high-quality analytical solutions.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to identify opportunities for revenue growth through predictive analytics and customer segmentation strategies.
- Present complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations to executive leadership to influence long-term business roadmaps and policy decisions.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in building and deploying predictive models using Python, with a deep understanding of algorithms such as Xgboost, Random Forest, Decision Trees, Logistic Regression, and Linear Regression.
- Proven ability to handle large-scale datasets using SQL, ensuring data integrity and efficiency in complex banking environments.
- Strong proficiency in statistical modeling and data analytics, with the ability to apply rigorous mathematical techniques to solve real-world financial problems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence senior management.
- A Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field from a premier institute.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, hybrid work environment in Gurugram, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on technical guidance.
- A minimum of 8 to 12 years of professional experience in the banking or financial services analytics domain.
