Role Overview :
We are seeking an Assistant Manager - Data Science to build and scale advanced analytics solutions for the General Trade Sales function. The role sits at the intersection of business, data science, sales operations and technology, with a mandate to convert large-scale internal and external data into actionable intelligence for frontline sales teams, channel stakeholders and business leaders.
The incumbent will work on high-impact use cases such as outlet-level SKU recommendations, dynamic target setting, sales forecasting, loyalty outlet selection, sales productivity improvement, beat and coverage optimisation, and AI-led sales actionability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop and continuously improve machine learning models and analytics solutions for General Trade Sales operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of production analytics processes, including model refreshes, output validation, exception handling and performance monitoring.
- Translate business problems from channel, branch and sales teams into well-defined analytical frameworks and scalable data science solutions.
- Support and enhance key GT analytics interventions such as outlet-level SKU recommendation, target setting, sales forecasting, sales productivity nudges and loyalty outlet selection.
- Use exploratory data analysis, statistical modelling and experimentation to identify performance drivers, market opportunities and process improvement areas.
- Partner with data engineering, business analytics, sales operations and technology teams to ensure reliable data pipelines, model deployment and business adoption.
- Evaluate emerging tools, Generative AI frameworks and automation opportunities to improve the speed, quality and effectiveness of current analytics processes.
- Build clear business narratives, dashboards and exhibits that help non-technical stakeholders understand model outputs and take timely action.
Technical and Professional Skills :
- Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, predictive modelling and data-driven problem solving.
- Hands-on proficiency in Python or R, SQL and analytical libraries commonly used for data science development.
- Ability to work with large datasets, data pipelines and model outputs in enterprise analytics environments.
- Understanding of FMCG sales operations, General Trade execution, outlet behaviour, sales productivity and distribution processes will be an advantage.
- Experience in model monitoring, validation, experimentation, performance measurement and continuous model enhancement.
- Working knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI, and ability to communicate insights through structured visual exhibits.
- Curiosity to experiment with Generative AI, automation and emerging analytics techniques for business problem solving.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Engineering graduate, preferably from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 institute, with strong exposure to analytics, statistics, computer science or data science.
- MBA, postgraduate qualification or advanced certification in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in data science, analytics consulting, FMCG analytics, sales analytics or business problem solving using advanced analytics.
- Prior experience in building or deploying machine learning models, analytical applications, recommendation engines, forecasting models or decision-support systems will be preferred.
