Role Overview :
As an AOSP Automotive HMI Engineer, you will be at the forefront of transforming the in-vehicle experience by developing sophisticated Human-Machine Interfaces on the Android Automotive OS platform.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams of UI/UX designers, system architects, and hardware engineers to integrate complex software stacks into the vehicle ecosystem.
Your contributions will directly impact how drivers and passengers interact with vehicle systems, ensuring a seamless, high-performance, and intuitive digital cockpit experience for global automotive brands.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain Vehicle HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) interfaces to facilitate seamless communication between the Android framework and vehicle sensors or actuators.
- Optimize middleware components to ensure low-latency performance and high stability of HMI features within the resource-constrained automotive environment.
- Collaborate with design teams to translate complex HMI requirements into functional, high-quality code that adheres to automotive safety and performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues within the AOSP stack to ensure a polished and reliable end-user experience.
- Lead the integration of third-party connectivity features, including Android Auto and CarPlay, to provide a versatile and connected infotainment ecosystem.
Required Skillset :
- Proven ability to navigate, customize, and build the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for automotive-grade hardware targets.
- Strong proficiency in middleware technologies and IPC mechanisms essential for building scalable automotive software solutions.
- Hands-on experience with AAOS, Vehicle HAL, and the integration of projection technologies like Android Auto and CarPlay.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to stakeholders across different engineering domains.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field, combined with 3 to 7 years of relevant industry experience.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment across our Bangalore, Pune, or Thiruvananthapuram offices, maintaining high standards of code quality and documentation.
- Immediate availability to join and contribute to ongoing automotive software projects.
