Role Overview :
As an Android Middleware Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing robust software stacks for automotive infotainment systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of system architects, hardware engineers, and UI/UX designers to integrate complex Android-based solutions into vehicle cockpits. Your daily contributions will directly impact the performance, stability, and user experience of in-vehicle systems, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware components and the Android framework to deliver a premium driving experience.
Key Responsibilities :
- Architect and implement low-level middleware components within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to ensure efficient communication between hardware and software layers.
- Develop and optimize Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) and Vehicle HAL (VHAL) to support advanced automotive features and sensor data integration.
- Enhance the Android Multimedia Framework to deliver high-fidelity audio and video performance within the infotainment environment.
- Collaborate with internal teams to debug and resolve complex system-level issues, ensuring the stability of the Android cockpit framework across diverse hardware platforms.
- Integrate Android Auto and related connectivity features to provide a cohesive and intuitive user interface for end-vehicle consumers.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews and performance profiling to maintain high standards of software quality and system responsiveness.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in C++ programming and deep understanding of the Android system architecture, specifically within the AOSP environment.
- Proven ability to design and maintain middleware services and HAL implementations for complex embedded systems.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and optimize the Android Multimedia Framework and related cockpit services.
- Experience in working with VHAL and automotive-specific Android extensions to bridge the gap between vehicle data and the infotainment system.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with global engineering teams and articulate technical challenges to stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment across our Bangalore, Pune, or Thiruvananthapuram offices.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline, backed by 3 to 7 years of relevant industry experience.
