Role Overview :
As an Android Audio Engineer specializing in AAOS (Android Automotive OS), you will be at the forefront of shaping the auditory experience within modern vehicle cockpits.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and UI/UX designers, to integrate and optimize complex audio stacks.
Your daily contributions will directly influence the performance, reliability, and immersive quality of infotainment systems, ensuring seamless audio delivery for navigation, media, and communication services in high-performance automotive environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) to bridge the gap between Android audio services and vehicle-specific audio hardware.
- Customize and optimize AudioFlinger and AudioPolicyService to meet the unique routing and mixing requirements of automotive environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex audio latency, synchronization, and stability issues to maintain a premium user experience during vehicle operation.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate Bluetooth stacks and other connectivity protocols, ensuring consistent audio streaming performance.
- Conduct rigorous performance tuning and system profiling to ensure the audio stack operates efficiently within the resource constraints of automotive hardware.
Required Skillset :
- Strong proficiency in Hardware Interface Definition Language (HIDL) and AIDL for effective
communication between Android framework layers and hardware drivers.
- Proven ability to design and implement audio routing policies for complex infotainment systems, including multi-zone audio and vehicle-specific sound management.
- Solid understanding of Bluetooth audio profiles and their integration within the Android automotive stack.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to debug low-level system issues in C++ and Java/Kotlin environments.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions to stakeholders across global engineering teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid or on-site model in Pune, Chennai, or Thiruvananthapuram, maintaining high standards of collaboration and technical excellence.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline, backed by 4 to 8 years of relevant professional experience.
