We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems at ZOOP.

The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals, expertise in backend development, and the ability to contribute to system design and technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient backend services.

- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Design and optimise databases, data models, and queries to support performance and scalability.

- Develop and maintain APIs, ensuring consistency, security, versioning, and integration reliability.

- Implement appropriate security measures, authentication, authorisation, and data protection practices.

- Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and architectural improvements.

- Identify and resolve complex technical issues, troubleshoot production problems, and optimise system performance.

- Develop automated unit and integration tests and follow engineering best practices.

- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving code quality, maintainability, and development standards.

Requirements :

- 5 - 8 years of professional software development experience, with strong expertise in backend engineering.

- Proficiency in Java or Python, with experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot or Django.

- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and backend system architecture.

- Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including data modelling and query optimisation.

- Understanding of application security, authentication, authorisation, and secure coding practices.

- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit or Pytest.

- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

- Experience with Git, code reviews, and collaborative software development practices.

- Ability to take ownership of technical deliverables and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
