Wintel Engineer - Managed Services/IT Infrastructure

Job Description :

We are looking for an experienced Windows / VMware Infrastructure Support Engineer to manage, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise server infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role requires strong expertise in Microsoft Windows Server administration, VMware virtualization, Hyper-V, Linux systems, Azure and AWS infrastructure, server performance troubleshooting, patch management, and ITIL-based support processes.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience troubleshooting complex production server issues, analyzing memory dumps, working with Windows OS architecture, and supporting enterprise infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities :

Windows Server Administration :

- Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server environments including Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016.

- Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Windows production servers.

- Troubleshoot critical server issues including server crashes, no-boot conditions, memory leaks, sluggish performance, and unresponsive servers.

- Analyze CPU, memory, disk, registry, BIOS, DNS, DHCP, and other operating-system-level issues.

- Troubleshoot Windows services, system resources, event logs, drivers, and operating-system components.

- Perform advanced troubleshooting across User Mode and Kernel Mode environments.

- Analyze and configure Windows memory dumps to identify root causes of system failures and performance issues.

- Apply strong knowledge of Windows Operating System architecture to resolve complex infrastructure problems.

- Work extensively with Windows Registry and troubleshoot issues related to registry keys and configurations.

VMware & Virtualization :

- Administer VMware environments including ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN.

- Manage and troubleshoot virtual machines, hosts, clusters, resource allocation, and virtual infrastructure.

- Support VMware availability and disaster recovery technologies including Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and vMSC.

- Perform troubleshooting of virtualization-related performance, availability, and connectivity issues.

- Manage Microsoft Hyper-V and System Center environments.

- Monitor virtual infrastructure performance and identify resource bottlenecks.

- Support VM provisioning, configuration, migration, capacity management, and lifecycle activities.

Cloud Infrastructure Azure & AWS :

- Support enterprise infrastructure hosted on Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms.

- Strong understanding of Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services.

- Troubleshoot Windows Server performance and availability issues running on Azure and AWS.

- Support cloud-based virtual machines, networking, storage, compute, and related infrastructure services.

- Monitor and troubleshoot resource utilization, connectivity, performance, and availability across cloud environments.

- Participate in cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and optimization initiatives.

- Apply enterprise infrastructure best practices across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

Linux Administration :

- Support Linux operating systems including RHEL, SLES, CentOS, and similar distributions.

- Perform basic to advanced troubleshooting of Linux server performance, availability, and system issues.

- Work with system resources, processes, services, storage, networking, and operating-system configurations.

- Support Linux systems within on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.

Server Performance & Advanced Troubleshooting :

- Diagnose complex Windows production server performance issues and identify root causes.

- Troubleshoot CPU, memory, storage, network, and operating-system bottlenecks.

- Analyze system crashes, blue screens, memory leaks, application hangs, and unresponsive servers.

- Analyze Windows memory dumps and crash dumps using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.

- Investigate recurring performance issues and provide permanent corrective actions.

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical infrastructure incidents.

- Document troubleshooting procedures, findings, and resolutions for recurring issues.

- Collaborate with application, database, network, security, and cloud teams for cross-functional problem resolution.

Infrastructure Security & Compliance :

- Manage antivirus and endpoint protection requirements for server environments.

- Perform operating-system patching and vulnerability remediation activities.

- Support compliance requirements related to server configuration, patching, access, and infrastructure security.

- Ensure servers adhere to organizational security and hardening standards.

- Coordinate patching activities across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

- Monitor infrastructure health and address security and compliance gaps.

Storage & Database Support :

- Support enterprise server storage environments and troubleshoot storage-related performance issues.

- Monitor disk utilization, capacity, I/O performance, and storage availability.

- Possess working knowledge of MS SQL and MySQL environments.

- Collaborate with database teams to troubleshoot infrastructure-related database performance and connectivity issues.

PowerShell & Automation :

- Develop and execute PowerShell scripts for system administration and infrastructure support.

- Automate routine server administration, monitoring, health checks, configuration, and troubleshooting activities.

- Create scripts to improve operational efficiency and reduce repetitive manual activities.

ITIL & Service Management :

- Follow ITIL-based processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

- Handle production incidents according to defined SLAs and operational procedures.

- Perform root cause analysis for recurring and high-severity incidents.

- Participate in change planning, implementation, validation, and post-change reviews.

- Maintain accurate incident, problem, change, and knowledge documentation.

- Participate in on-call and production support activities as required.
