Virtusa - Lead Software Engineer - .Net

Job Summary :

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the technical direction, architecture, and hands-on execution of our core microservices and distributed backend systems. In this role, you will lead a team of high-performing engineers, champion best practices in resilient system design, and collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into scalable, fault-tolerant solutions using .NET Core / .NET 8.

Key Responsibilities :

- Technical Leadership & System Design : Architect, build, and maintain high-throughput REST APIs and Event-Driven Microservices utilizing .NET Core (.NET 6+).

- Architecture & Standards : Define resilient design patterns, microservices architecture, and enterprise integration patterns across distributed systems.

- Team Mentorship & Execution : Guide and mentor a team of engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, establish engineering standards, and ensure high code quality and test coverage. Should be hands on with coding.

- Continuous Improvement & DevOps : Partner with DevOps to drive continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Octopus Deploy.

- Observability & Reliability : Design systems with robust monitoring and logging strategies using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.

- Cross-Functional Engagement : Work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Agile teams to break down complex epics into scalable tech designs and deliverables.

Qualifications & Requirements :

- Experience : 11+ years of industry experience as a full-stack or backend engineer (5 years considered if technical assessment is exceptional).

- Backend Core : Expert in C# or Java with strong OOP and design patterns. Core expertise in .NET Core / .NET 6 / .NET 8 is required.

- Architecture : Proven experience with REST APIs, Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, and resilience patterns for distributed systems.

- Streaming : Hands-on experience with streaming platforms like Apache Kafka is a strong plus.

- Databases : Strong relational database experience with MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.

- Cloud : Hands-on experience or deep knowledge of Cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

- CI/CD & DevOps : Source control (Git), build/deployment platforms (Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).

- Monitoring : Experience with observability stacks such as Grafana or Prometheus.

- Soft Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills; experienced with Agile/Scrum delivery models.
