Job Description

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud FinOps Analyst to optimize cloud expenditure, strengthen financial governance, and improve cost visibility across AWS environments. The ideal candidate will combine strong knowledge of AWS pricing, billing, cost optimization, and FinOps practices with analytical and stakeholder management skills to drive measurable cloud cost efficiency.

The role will work closely with Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Finance, Procurement, and Product teams to identify optimization opportunities, improve cost allocation and forecasting, and implement sustainable cloud cost management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitor and analyze AWS cloud spend across accounts, services, environments, and business units to identify major cost drivers.

- Identify and drive cost optimization opportunities across services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, CloudFront, and other AWS workloads.

- Recommend and track optimization initiatives such as rightsizing, storage optimization, resource cleanup, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and waste reduction.

- Analyze AWS usage patterns and translate cost data into actionable recommendations for Engineering and DevOps teams.

- Develop and maintain cost dashboards and reports using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS Billing Console, and AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR).

- Establish and maintain cost allocation, chargeback/showback, tagging, and cost-center mapping practices.

- Drive monthly and quarterly cloud cost reviews with Engineering, Product, Finance, and business stakeholders.

- Prepare cloud spending forecasts, budget plans, variance analysis, and cost trend reports.

- Work with AWS CUR data to develop custom reports, queries, dashboards, and cost analysis models.

- Automate recurring FinOps reporting and analysis using Python, SQL, Athena, Glue, Lambda, or similar AWS services.

- Integrate AWS cost and usage data with BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Amazon QuickSight.

- Evaluate and manage cloud cost management platforms such as CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Flexera, or Harness.

- Support AWS purchasing and renewal activities, including Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) discussions.

- Partner with Engineering and Architecture teams to provide guidance on cost-efficient AWS architecture and workload design.

- Analyze and support AWS serverless workloads, including Lambda event mappings, Step Functions, and event-driven integrations, from a cost, reliability, and operational perspective.

- Support troubleshooting and operational analysis of SES event-driven processing, DLQs, API retry mechanisms, and related AWS integrations where they impact cost, reliability, or production operations.

- Contribute to schema-drift validation, remediation, and production support activities related to cloud data and cost-management workflows.

- Provide knowledge transfer and support L3 production activities for FinOps and AWS cost-management solutions.

- Establish and promote FinOps best practices, governance standards, and continuous improvement across AWS environments.

Requirements:

- 5 - 10 years of experience in Cloud FinOps, cloud cost management, cloud operations, financial analysis, or a related technology domain.

- Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS pricing models, billing constructs, and cost optimization practices.

- Strong understanding of Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot pricing, Enterprise Discount Programs (EDP), and AWS purchasing models.

- Hands-on experience with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR), and AWS Billing Console.

- Experience analyzing AWS costs across multiple accounts, services, environments, and business units.

- Strong understanding of cost allocation, tagging strategies, chargeback/showback, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

- Experience with cloud cost management platforms such as CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Flexera, or Harness.

- Strong Excel skills and experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Amazon QuickSight.

- Working knowledge of SQL and Python for cost analysis and automation.

- Experience working with AWS services such as Athena, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.

- Understanding of AWS serverless and event-driven architectures, including Lambda, SES, DLQs, and API integrations.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert cost data into practical business and engineering recommendations.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Finance, Procurement, and Product teams.

- Experience with cloud governance, operational support, and production troubleshooting would be an advantage.
