Our esteemed client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Magento Backend Lead to spearhead the development and maintenance of their robust e-commerce platform.

As a Backend Lead, you will be responsible for the technical architecture, development standards, and overall quality of the Magento backend.

You will lead a team of developers, drive complex integrations, and ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and performs optimally to meet the needs of their growing business.

This role requires a deep understanding of Magento's architecture, strong coding skills in PHP and related technologies, and proven leadership abilities to guide a team of 10+ developers.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and flexible with shifts to align with the PST time zone.

Responsibilities :

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of 10+ Magento developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

- Define and enforce backend development standards, coding conventions, and best practices within the team.

- Architect scalable and robust backend solutions for Magento 1x and 2x platforms, considering performance, security, and maintainability.

- Design and lead the implementation of complex integrations with first-party and third-party systems (e.

, ERP, CRM, payment gateways, shipping providers, marketing automation platforms).

- Make critical technical decisions regarding platform architecture, database design, and system integrations.

- Lead the development and configuration of Magento 1x and 2x e-commerce websites and applications, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to project requirements.

- Oversee advanced Magento theming and customization, ensuring seamless integration of frontend designs with backend functionalities.

- Drive the development of custom Magento modules and extensions to implement unique business logic and features.

- Ensure the platform supports B2B, B2C, multi-site, and multi-country implementations, addressing specific requirements for each.

- Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end integrations with various internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality.

- Troubleshoot complex integration issues and work collaboratively with other teams to identify and resolve root causes.

- Ensure the stability and reliability of all integrations.

- Identify and implement strategies for optimizing Magento backend performance, including database query optimization, caching mechanisms, and code profiling.

- Ensure the platform adheres to security best practices and implement necessary security patches and updates in a timely manner.

- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, security, and adherence to standards.

- Manage the workload and task assignments for the backend development team.

- Mentor and guide junior and senior developers, fostering their technical growth and expertise in Magento.

- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and resource requirements for backend development tasks.

- Ensure the backend development team delivers high-quality solutions within agreed-upon timelines and budgets.

- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact backend development progress.

- Oversee the maintenance of the Magento platform, including applying security patches, upgrading Magento versions, and ensuring compatibility with other systems.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest Magento features, updates, and best practices.

Documentation :

- Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation for backend architecture, code, integrations, and deployment processes.

Technical Skills :

Mandatory :

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Magento (both 1x and 2x platforms).

- Strong proficiency in PHP (both frontend and backend).

- Solid understanding of JavaScript and jQuery.

- Proficient in HTML and CSS.

- Deep knowledge of MySQL and database design principles.

- Proven experience in building and configuring Magento e-commerce websites and applications.

- Advanced experience with Magento theming and customization.

- Experience in designing and leading B2B, B2C, multi-site, and multi-country, end-to-end implementations of e-commerce platforms (with Magento focus).

- Experience in building custom functionality and integrations with first- and third-party software.

- Ability to develop and maintain code for custom Magento extensions.

- Strong understanding of Magento's architecture, modules, and extension development.

- Experience with troubleshooting integration issues.
