Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager Backend to lead, mentor, and scale our backend engineering team. The ideal candidate brings a deep technical background, a passion for system design and scalability, and proven leadership experience in building high-performance backend systems. This role will be pivotal in shaping our technical roadmap, driving architectural excellence, and ensuring seamless execution across multiple backend projects.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and manage a team of backend engineers, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and growth.

- Architect and oversee the development of scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems and APIs.

- Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, and AI teams to align engineering execution with business objectives.

- Define and enforce engineering best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, and testing strategies.

- Drive architectural decisions and long-term technical vision for backend services.

- Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability across distributed systems.

- Own technical delivery timelines, resource allocation, and cross-team dependencies.

- Contribute hands-on to critical design and code reviews where necessary.

- Mentor engineers through regular 1 :1s, career growth discussions, and technical guidance.

- Stay updated with emerging technologies and guide adoption of modern tools and frameworks.

Requirements :

- 8- 10 years of overall experience in backend development, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

- Deep expertise in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Go.

- Strong foundation in system design, distributed architectures, and API scalability.

- Proficiency with databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch.

- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and testing frameworks.

- Proven track record of leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced startup environments.

- Strong communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.

- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical depth and business priorities.
