Job Summary :

Were looking for a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of building and scaling our core backend systems. In this role, youll lead the development and optimization of backend services and APIs that power our platform. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in PHP, Laravel, and MySQL, a strong grasp of server-side architecture, security best practices, and a commitment to writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Responsibilities :

- Build Scalable Systems : Design, implement, and maintain robust backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP and Laravel.

- Database Design & Performance : Architect and optimize MySQL databases for scalability, reliability, and performance.

- Secure Engineering : Champion best practices for backend security, data protection, and vulnerability mitigation (XSS, CSRF, SQLi, etc.).

- Test-Driven Development : Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage using PHPUnit or equivalent.

- DevOps & Server Management : Manage deployments and server environments (Ubuntu, Nginx), with a focus on performance and uptime.

- Collaboration & Code Quality : Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.

- Performance Optimization : Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across backend and database layers.

- Cross-Functional Partnership : Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and designers to build seamless, user-focused experiences.

- Innovation & Technical Leadership : Research new tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches to evolve our tech stack and developer workflows.

Requirements :

- Strong PHP Development Experience : Minimum 3+ years of professional backend development using modern PHP practices.

- Expertise in Laravel : Hands-on experience with Laravels ecosystem (Eloquent ORM, routing, queues, middleware, etc.).

- Database Skills : Deep knowledge of MySQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.

- Linux Server Proficiency : Comfort with Unix-based environments (e.g., Ubuntu), including Nginx setup and server tuning.

- Security Best Practices : Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and protection against common web vulnerabilities.

- Testing Mindset : Experience writing and maintaining unit/integration tests using PHPUnit or similar.

- Version Control : Proficient with Git, GitHub/GitLab, and standard Git workflows.

- API Development : Proven ability to build and integrate RESTful APIs.

- Performance & Scalability : Experience optimizing backend code and infrastructure to handle high-traffic loads.

- Strong Communication : Able to clearly articulate ideas and work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based environments.

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.

- Exposure to DevOps practices and deployment automation.

- Knowledge of frontend technologies (React, Vue.js, or similar) is a plus.

- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent real-world experience.
