UI/UX Lead / Manager

Location : Pune

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on UI/UX Lead / Manager to drive the design and user experience strategy for our Drone Ground Control Station (GCS) and Fleet Management Platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape intuitive, safety-critical interfaces that power next-generation drone operations. The role blends product thinking, human-centered design, and system-level UX to deliver software that is functional, reliable, and delightful to use.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the end-to-end design lifecycle across web, desktop, and tablet-based GCS and fleet software.

- Design operator dashboards, mission planning workflows, telemetry views, and map interfaces.

- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools like Figma or Adobe XD.

- Collaborate with product managers, drone pilots, and developers to define intuitive interactions.

- Conduct user research and field studies with drone operators, mission planners, and technicians.

- Optimize information hierarchy for real-time monitoring, alerts, mission logs, and fleet health.

- Establish a cohesive design system across modules (video feed, map overlays, telemetry, mission planner, battery management, etc.).

- Mentor and lead a small team of 23 designers while also contributing as an individual contributor.

- Partner with frontend teams to ensure accurate design implementation and QA of UI components.

- Champion usability, accessibility, and safety-critical UX patterns relevant to autonomous systems.

Required Skills & Experience :

- Proven portfolio showcasing dashboards, map-based UIs, or control interfaces.

- Strong experience with real-time data visualization, geospatial interfaces, or mission planning systems.

- Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Framer.

- Ability to create interactive prototypes and detailed design specs for engineering handoff.

- Solid expertise in UX research, information architecture, and wireframing.

Good-to-Have Skills :

- Familiarity with drone systems, avionics, robotics, or SCADA dashboards.

- Knowledge of map SDKs (Mapbox, Leaflet, Cesium, OpenLayers).

- Understanding of safety-critical UX design patterns or situational awareness principles.

- Experience in GCS or telemetry-heavy interfaces for aerospace, defense, or robotics.

- Exposure to WebGL, Three.js, or 3D visualizations in UX design.
