Uber - Senior Software Engineer - MySQL

About the Role :

The Platform Engineering team at Uber covering Compute, Network, Storage, Reliability, Hardware Engineering, and Corporate IT is the backbone of Uber Engineering. Our mission is to "Empower One Uber to innovate by building a world-class foundation that accelerates growth at scale." Were looking for a passionate and skilled Software Engineer II to help define and build the next generation of our MySQL platform, which powers business-critical workloads across Uber.

What Youll Do :

- Contribute to the technical roadmap and evolution of Ubers MySQL infrastructure.

- Build and enhance MySQL offerings to meet the demands of large-scale, high-performance systems.

- Collaborate with engineers across teams to resolve product ambiguities and improve customer experience.

- Drive technical innovation and deliver robust, scalable systems to support Ubers global operations.

What Youll Need :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, C++, or Java.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience working on large-scale distributed systems.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.

- Familiarity with MySQL and other database technologies like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Cassandra, YugaByte, CockroachDB, Spanner, CosmosDB, RDS, or VectorDB.

- Understanding of distributed systems and experience building resilient control planes is a strong plus.
