We are building the next generation platform for continuous integration and delivery at Tesco. Our mission is to upgrade the CI process and provide our engineering teams with a reliable, secure, observable, and predictable CI/CD experience. We are also engaged in developing standard libraries to be used by all container teams to support robust communication mechanism (event based) between containers, securing containers and other common tooling so that we together can deliver high quality, standard and performant applications.

You will be responsible for :

You will be part of an agile, industry leading team of engineers. You will be creating the future continuous integration and delivery tools for our area, solving problems, and developing new features through quality, scalable, performant, reliable and maintainable technical solutions. The solutions that you and your team will be responsible for will have impact on hundreds of thousands of Tesco colleagues.

Your contribution will have a direct impact on how we build, release, and monitor our applications in ppe, qa and production. Leveraging on tools like Kubernetes, Docker, Shell Script, Ansible, Grafana and others, and services like Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, you will be responsible for the success of many other talented engineers on their journey to deliver high quality, performant applications.

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the roles key responsibilities and measures :

- Focus on continuous integration and delivery.

- Focus on performance, availability, reliability, and security.

- Effectively communicate your and your teams progress to your team members, your manager and wider Tesco colleagues.

- Take the existing solution to next level by making continuous integration a fully automated process including using AI solutions.

Preferred candidate profile :

- Proficiency in Java.

- Proficiency in developing services that run in Kubernetes environments.

- Managing and provisioning infrastructure (servers, networks, databases) using code instead of manual processes.

- Good exposure of continuous integration and delivery, and related tooling.

- Ability to identify and implement design patterns, write clean code, and understand domain modelling.

- Design and implement solutions with a fair level of autonomy.

- Good understanding of AI and tooling.

- Work with other SDEs within the team or peer teams.

- Excellent written and spoken English skills.

- Essential previous experience in Kubernetes environment and Infrastructure/Networking.

- Problem solving, analysis and computational skills.

- Designing and supporting systems for high availability and scalability.
