Job Introduction :

The Database Engineer II plays a key role in supporting and optimizing Tekion's database environments. This role develops, maintains, and scales database solutions that ensure performance, availability, and security. It involves cross-functional collaboration, hands-on development, and growing ownership of key database operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities :

- Designs and implements database solutions, including schema changes, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.

- Performs performance tuning, query optimization, and diagnostics to resolve system bottlenecks.

- Monitors and manages database health, backups, and failover procedures across environments.

- Automates recurring maintenance and data processing tasks using SQL and scripting tools.

- Collaborates with development, DevOps, and product teams to align database design with application needs.

- Participates in code reviews, documentation, and the enforcement of best practices.

- Supports incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.

Basic Qualifications :

- 4 - 6 years of experience in database engineering or administration

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

- Proficiency in SQL, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash), and data management tools

- Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and recovery strategies

- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across engineering and infrastructure teams
