Job Title : Azure SQL DBA / Senior SQL Database Administrator

Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced Azure SQL DBA with strong expertise in managing and supporting SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, cloud migration support, and ensuring high availability across critical production systems.

The candidate should possess strong troubleshooting capabilities and hands-on experience in Azure PaaS database services along with automation and scripting skills.

Key Responsibilities :

- Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across versions including SQL Server 2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2022

- Manage Azure SQL environments including Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure PaaS databases

- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, patching, backup, and restore activities

- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to improve scalability, reliability, and availability

- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using :

1. Always On Availability Groups

2. Log Shipping

3. SQL Replication

4. Geo-Replication

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues related to performance, connectivity, blocking, deadlocks, storage, and data integrity

- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure automation tools

- Support and collaborate with application and development teams for SQL-based applications, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS

- Ensure database security, user access management, compliance, and governance standards are maintained

- Participate in infrastructure planning, capacity management, and cloud migration initiatives

- Maintain documentation for database configurations, operational procedures, recovery plans, and best practices

- Provide production support in a 24x7 environment and participate in on-call rotations

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8-10 years of experience as SQL DBA / Azure SQL DBA

- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration across multiple versions

- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure PaaS databases

- Strong knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, execution plans, and indexing strategies

- Experience in implementing backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutions

- Expertise in High Availability solutions such as Always On, Replication, and Log Shipping

- Experience working in hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration projects

- Strong scripting knowledge in PowerShell and T-SQL

- Working knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS

- Good understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
