Technical Lead - Backend Architecture

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead Backend FinTech to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend solutions for financial technology platforms. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Node.js and Java, along with proven experience in system design, technical leadership, and mentoring engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities / KRA :

- Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable and high-performance backend applications for FinTech products and platforms.

- Design and implement microservices, REST APIs, backend services, and system integrations using Node.js and Java.

- Define and drive backend architecture, technical standards, coding practices, and design principles across projects.

- Make technical decisions related to scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability of backend systems.

- Lead architecture and technical design discussions and translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to backend developers.

- Troubleshoot complex backend issues, identify root causes, and drive effective technical solutions.

- Work closely with Product, Engineering, QA, and Business teams to understand requirements and deliver backend solutions aligned with business objectives.

- Design and optimize backend integrations with internal systems, external services, APIs, and financial platforms.

- Ensure backend applications follow appropriate security, data handling, performance, and reliability standards, particularly for FinTech use cases.

- Take ownership of technically complex projects from solution design through development and production delivery.

- Act as the technical point of contact for stakeholders and communicate architecture, technical decisions, risks, and project progress effectively.

Required Skills :

- 8+ years of experience in software development with strong backend expertise.

- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Java.

- Strong understanding of backend architecture and microservices.

- Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.

- Strong knowledge of databases, data modelling, and backend performance optimization.

- Experience with scalable and distributed backend systems.

- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

- Proven experience in technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good to Have :

- Experience in FinTech, BFSI, Payments, Banking, or financial platforms.

- Experience working on products or internal platforms used by multiple teams or users.

- Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.

- Exposure to AI / GenAI technologies.

- Experience leading technically complex or large-scale backend projects.
