Job Description :
Key Responsibilities :
Firmware Architecture & Development :
- Design, develop, and maintain firmware for enterprise HDD involving SAS/SATA, ZAC/ZBC.
- Define firmware architecture, software frameworks, and module interfaces for scalable storage solutions.
- Firmware/Software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, validation, and release.
- Implement algorithms and/or improve implementations and take part in their verification and production.
Storage Technology Leadership :
- Drive development of advanced storage features including :
1. Middleware/Flash Translation Layer (FTL)
2. Garbage Collection
3. Error Recovery
4. Power-Fail Management
5. Storage Protocol (SATA, SAS, NVMe) knowhow
- Collaborate on future storage technologies and product roadmaps.
Performance & Reliability Optimization :
- Analyze and optimize firmware performance, latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Lead root cause analysis of field issues and customer escalations.
- Develop diagnostic, telemetry, and debug capabilities.
- Develop simulation architecture to validate new performance algorithms.
Cross-Functional Leadership :
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to firmware engineers.
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
- Engage with customers and field teams to understand requirements and resolve complex issues.
Required Qualification/Skillset :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of firmware development experience with minimum 5+ experience in storage Firmware.
Strong expertise in :
1. C/C++
2. Embedded Systems
3. RTOS and Bare-Metal Development
4. Storage Firmware Architecture
- Experience with firmware debugging using JTAG, Logic Analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Strong understanding of memory management, concurrency, interrupts, and performance optimization.
- Should be aware about any system level scripting language : Python, Perl, Shell, Lua etc.
- Excellent in object-oriented design including Data structures.
- Good knowledge of HW, SOC architecture, processor architecture.
- Strong analytical skill with hands-on debugging skills.
