We are seeking an experienced STB Testing Engineer (3-7 years experience) with mandatory expertise in Set-Top Box environments, including DTH/IPTV and OTT devices (Smart TVs, Android TV). The ideal local candidate will possess a good understanding of core media services like live TV, VOD, catch-up, and nPVR, coupled with knowledge of CAS and Head-End systems. Key responsibilities include performing manual Functional and Non-Functional testing, and understanding software and firmware updates using GOTA and OTA protocols to ensure the robust delivery of media applications.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Deliverables :

STB and Media Platform Testing :

- Demonstrate a Good Understanding of set-top boxes (STB), covering different architectures including DTH/IPTV and connected OTT devices (smart TVs, Android TV, Android apps).

- Test core media consumption features including live TV, catch-up TV, VOD (Video-on-Demand), time-shifted TV, and nPVR (network Personal Video Recorder) functionality.

- Apply OTT and STB testing knowledge to validate application stability, user experience, and streaming performance across various device types.

- Execute comprehensive Manual testing for both Functional and Non-Functional requirements (performance, reliability, security).

Firmware and System Protocol Knowledge :

- Possess Understanding of Software and Firmware testing using GOTA (Google Over-The-Air) and OTA (Over-The-Air) update mechanisms, including validation of update reliability and system integrity post-update.

- Exhibit Knowledge of CAS (Conditional Access System) and Head-End components, understanding their role in content encryption and delivery workflows.

- Apply Basic Knowledge of IP and Networking principles to troubleshoot connectivity, streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH), and common network issues.

Quality Assurance and Process :

- Design, create, and maintain detailed test cases and test plans based on technical specifications and user stories.

- Identify, document, and track defects, collaborating with development and operations teams to drive timely resolution.

- Participate in requirement analysis and design reviews to ensure testability of features.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

- Experience : Min of 37 years of QA with STB Experience is mandatory.

- Domain : Good Understanding of set-top boxes (STB), including DTH/IPTV, OTT devices (smart TVs, Android TV, Android apps), live TV, catch-up TV, VOD, time-shifted TV, and nPVR.

- Testing Methods : Proficiency in Manual testing - Functional and Non-Functional.

- Protocols : Understanding of Software and Firmware testing using GOTA and OTA.

- Systems : Knowledge of CAS and Head-End.

Preferred Skills :

- Basic knowledge of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium) applicable to TV platforms.

- Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).

- Familiarity with streaming video codecs and quality metrics.

- Basic Knowledge of IP and Networking concepts (TCP/IP, multicast, unicast).
