Staff Software Engineer for a product/FinTech company : (IC Role)

About the Role :

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Java to drive the design and development of highly scalable, reliable, and distributed backend systems. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and other stakeholders to solve complex technical problems and build high-impact products.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and develop high-performance, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

- Own architecture and technical decisions for complex systems and services.

- Build and maintain microservices and distributed systems.

- Drive engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, security, and performance.

- Work with Kafka/event-driven architecture, databases, caching, and APIs.

- Identify and resolve system performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.

- Mentor senior engineers and contribute to technical growth across the team.

- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

- Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering standards.

Required Skills :

- 8 - 14 years of software engineering experience with strong Java expertise.

- Strong experience with Java 11/17+ and Spring Boot.

- Excellent understanding of Microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems.

- Hands-on experience with Kafka or other messaging systems.

- Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, caching and database optimization.

- Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure and cloud-native architectures.

- Good understanding of Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD.

- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and system design.

- Experience designing systems for high scale, availability and reliability.

Good to Have :

- Experience in FinTech, Payments, Banking, Blockchain or Financial Services.

- Experience with high-volume transaction platforms.

- Exposure to security, compliance and distributed transaction systems.
