Role Overview :

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer Java Stack to help design, build, and scale the backend systems that power our consumer-facing applications. The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on engineer with expertise in Java-based backend development, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architectures. In addition to backend expertise, familiarity with modern frontend technologies - particularly Flutter - will be a significant advantage, enabling effective collaboration across the full product stack. This role is suited for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership of business outcomes, and enjoy working on products that operate at scale.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Backend Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.

- Build high-performance, secure, and reliable applications using Java and Spring Boot.

- Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures.

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.

- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.

2. Product Engineering :

- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Deliver features end-to-end with a strong focus on customer experience and system reliability.

- Participate actively in sprint planning, estimations, code reviews, and retrospectives.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering practices.

3. Scalability & Performance :

- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and resilience.

- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root-cause analysis.

- Design systems capable of handling high transaction volumes and growing user demand.

- Improve system observability through monitoring, logging, and alerting.

4. Cross-Functional Contribution :

- Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineering teams to deliver seamless user experiences.

- Contribute to API design and integration strategies.

- Support frontend/mobile initiatives where required, particularly in Flutter-based applications.

- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience :

1. Core Backend Skills :

- 5 - 8 years of software development experience with strong backend engineering expertise.

- Proficiency in : Java (Java 8/11/17+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST APIs, Hibernate / JPA.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software design patterns.

- Experience building and maintaining microservices architectures.

- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts.

2. Database Technologies :

- Strong experience with relational databases : MySQL, PostgreSQL.

- Experience with NoSQL technologies such as : MongoDB, Redis.

- Ability to design efficient schemas and optimize query performance.

3. Messaging & Integration :

- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems.

- Understanding of event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing patterns.

4. Cloud & DevOps :

- Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platforms.

- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

- Experience with monitoring and logging frameworks.

Preferred Skills :

1. Frontend & Mobile Development :

- Flutter development and mobile application architecture.

- Dart programming language.

- Experience integrating mobile applications with backend services.

- Understanding of Android and iOS application ecosystems.

- Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.

2. Fintech Domain Experience :

- Experience building fintech, payments, banking, lending, insurance, or digital commerce platforms.

- Exposure to high-volume transaction processing systems.

- Understanding of security, authentication, authorization, and compliance requirements in financial applications.
