Job Description :

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer - Node.js (SR1) who brings deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and a strong sense of technical ownership.

In this role, you will lead backend engineering initiatives, design robust and scalable architectures, and drive engineering excellence across projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, and mentor developers to ensure high-quality, maintainable systems. A strong emphasis is placed on implementing best practices in testing, object-oriented design, performance optimization, and security.

You will independently lead complex initiatives, contribute to technical decision-making, guide teams from design to implementation, and continuously improve processes, standards, and system reliability.

Requirements :

- 3-5 years of professional experience in backend development using Node.js

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

- Strong expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, including advanced TypeScript patterns such as utility types and mapped types

- Proven experience in designing and implementing comprehensive unit and functional tests using frameworks like Jest, Mocha, Supertest, or equivalent

- Strong understanding and hands-on application of Object-Oriented Design patterns (Singleton, Factory, Strategy, Observer, Decorator) to build scalable and maintainable systems

- Experience designing and planning efficient, scalable, secure, and testable solutions for complex problems

- Strong focus on code quality, performance, reliability, and security, including maintaining high test coverage

- Expertise in identifying, debugging, and resolving complex issues using advanced debugging techniques (Node Inspector, async hooks, memory leak detection)

- Deep understanding of API security, including JWT, OAuth, rate limiting, and CORS

- Experience with caching strategies using Redis or Memcached

- Proficiency with HTTP caching mechanisms such as Cache-Control headers and ETags

- Strong knowledge of security protocols including HTTPS, TLS/SSL, and encryption methods like bcrypt and Argon2

- Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or NATS for distributed systems

- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and their core services

- Experience working with serverless frameworks like AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, or Azure Functions is a plus

- Knowledge of cloud storage and database services including DynamoDB, S3, or Firebase

- Expertise in logging, monitoring, and security incident tracking

- Ability to lead complex project components from design through implementation

- Ability to drive and enforce technical best practices and advanced performance optimizations

- Ability to propose innovative technical solutions aligned with overall business strategy

- Experience creating internal training materials and contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives

- Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly

- Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers

- Collaborative mindset with product, design, and frontend teams

- Proactive and clear communication with stakeholders

- Ability to balance technical debt, feature delivery, and system maintenance

- Experience with Node.js performance tuning, including streams and async optimizations
