Software Engineer II - Node.js/TypeScript

Job Description

As a Software Engineer II, you will be a core contributor to our backend services, focusing on solidifying your skills, taking ownership of tasks, and delivering high-quality code.

You will explore and work with cutting-edge technologies and a large, rich data set under the direct guidance of senior engineers.

What You'll Do :

- Implement assigned medium-sized features and application modules based on established design specifications and clear acceptance criteria.

- Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code primarily in TypeScript and Node.js.

- Independently diagnose and resolve production bugs and contribute to the maintenance of existing backend services.

- Work with senior engineers to implement and update REST/GraphQL API endpoints.

- Perform data modeling and query optimization in MongoDB and implement caching solutions using Redis.

- Actively participate in code reviews, focusing on learning team standards and providing constructive feedback on peers' code.

- Assist with the containerization and deployment process using Docker and CI/CD tools.

- Focus on building a deep working knowledge of one or more core services, and actively seek documentation and clarification on overall system architecture.

What You Bring :

- 2 to 5 years of software engineering experience, with a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.

- 1+ years of hands-on experience building backend services, preferably in Node.js/TypeScript.

- Familiarity with modern backend frameworks (NestJS, Express, or Fastify).

- Working knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) and caching fundamentals (e.g., Redis).

- Experience with basic API concepts (HTTP methods, status codes).

- Basic understanding of cloud environments (GCP or AWS), Docker, and CI/CD tools.

- A strong sense of ownership, eagerness to learn quickly, and excellent problem-solving skills.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate technical issues
