Software Development Engineer IV - Java

Flipkart is looking for an experienced SDE 4 (Java Developer) to design, build, and scale highly reliable distributed systems that power one of India's largest e-commerce platforms. As a senior technical leader, you will own critical systems, influence architectural decisions, and mentor engineers while solving complex business and technical challenges at scale.

Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems using Java and related technologies.

- Drive system architecture and design decisions for large-scale services handling millions of transactions.

- Lead end-to-end ownership of critical components, from design to production and optimization.

- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and scalability challenges.

- Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, design reviews, testing, and CI/CD.

- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, contributing to team growth and technical excellence.

- Participate in technical roadmap planning and influence long-term platform strategy.

Requirements :

- 8 to 12+ years of software development experience.

- Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+) and object-oriented design.

- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs.

- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.

- Experience with Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.

- Proficiency with databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL systems (Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.).

- Strong knowledge of concurrency, multithreading, and JVM internals.

- Experience with message queues / streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).

- Familiarity with caching technologies (Redis, Memcached).

Good to Have :

- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).

- Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

- Experience in building high-availability, low-latency systems.

- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.

- Prior experience in e-commerce, fintech, or large-scale consumer platforms.
