Simform Solutions - Database Engineer - SQL Server

Role Overview:

We're looking for an experienced Database Engineer (5+ years) who owns database changes end-to-end, from development through validated production release. You will build and maintain SQL Server schemas using SSDT/DACPAC, and run database deployments through CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) that are reliable and repeatable. You will make sure every change, including indexes, schema drift fixes, and data migrations, is tested and validated in lower environments before it reaches production.

Total Experience: 5 - 10 years

Must have:

- Deep hands-on experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, SSDT/DACPAC, and SqlPackage, including publish profiles, pre/post-deployment scripts, and deploy report/script generation for review.

- A proven track record of zero-surprise production releases, with dry runs, rollback plans, and clear error logging and diagnostics.

- Strong skills in performance tuning, indexing strategy, and troubleshooting under pressure.

- Clear communication with client stakeholders, and full ownership of the deployment runbook and release sign-off.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement robust database schemas and T-SQL objects to support complex application requirements and ensure long-term scalability.

- Manage the full lifecycle of database deployments using SSDT and DACPAC to ensure consistency across development, staging, and production environments.

- Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid, error-free releases and support DevOps best practices.

- Execute comprehensive performance tuning and indexing strategies to optimize query execution times and minimize resource consumption.

- Conduct proactive troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve complex database bottlenecks and maintain high system uptime.

- Implement unit testing frameworks like tSQLt to ensure the reliability and quality of database code before deployment.

- Migrate and manage database workloads within Azure SQL environments to leverage cloud-native scalability and security features.

Nice to have:

- Azure SQL, Flyway or Liquibase, automated database testing (tSQLt), and experience with database DevOps maturity improvements.
