Role Overview :

We are seeking a dynamic Shopify Developer with robust e-commerce and integration experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and customizing high-converting Shopify stores, with an emphasis on integrating payment processing (specifically GoCardless for direct debits/payments), advanced KYC/AML workflows with industry-leading providers (such as Equifax and Experian), and BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) solutions. This role will combine front-end development, back-end integrations, and third-party service orchestration to support our next-generation financial e-commerce products.

Key Responsibilities :

Shopify Store Customization & Development :

- Develop and maintain custom Shopify themes and apps.

- Optimize storefronts for performance, SEO, and a seamless user experience.

- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to implement responsive, mobile-first designs.

Integration with GoCardless :

- Implement and maintain seamless integration with the GoCardless API.

- Ensure secure and reliable processing of direct debit transactions.

- Troubleshoot integration issues, implement robust error handling, and coordinate with GoCardless support as needed.

Integration with KYC/AML Providers :

- Design and develop middleware to integrate leading KYC/AML providers like Equifax and Experian.

- Work with provider APIs to fetch, validate, and process verification data.

- Ensure that the integrations follow industry compliance standards and best practices for data security.

BNPL Solutions Integration :

- Integrate and configure Buy Now, Pay Later solutions within the Shopify environment.

- Coordinate with BNPL providers to align their APIs with the Shopify storefront and checkout workflows.

- Develop contingency strategies in case of integration issues or API changes.

Collaboration & Agile Methodologies :

- Work in a collaborative, agile environment, participating in sprints, code reviews, and design discussions.

- Liaise with cross-functional teams (product managers, QA engineers, and operations) to deliver seamless integration solutions.

- Help define technical requirements and contribute to product planning with an eye for scalable and secure integrations.

Compliance and Security :

- Ensure all developed systems meet regulatory and compliance guidelines, especially concerning financial data, KYC/AML, and payment processing.

- Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and ongoing compliance requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Proficiency :

- Strong proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery) and a sound understanding of Shopifys Liquid templating language.

- Solid back-end development skills, with experience in languages (e.g., Ruby, Node.js, or PHP) for Shopify app development.

- Familiarity with RESTful API consumption and integration best practices.

- Experience integrating third-party APIs especially for payment gateways (e.g., GoCardless) and financial services.

Industry-Specific Integrations :

- Previous experience integrating with financial services platforms.

- Hands-on experience working with KYC/AML APIs (e.g., Equifax, Experian) and understanding the challenges inherent in handling sensitive consumer data.

- Exposure to BNPL solutions integrations, demonstrating knowledge of checkout customizations and risk management strategies.

Additional Skills :

- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication skills and experience working within an agile team environment.

- Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

- A keen eye for secure coding practices, especially when dealing with sensitive financial data.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Previous experience building or scaling Shopify stores for payment-heavy products or financial services.

- Understanding of payment processing flows, including recurring billing and direct debit mechanisms.

- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and microservices architecture.

- Knowledge of security compliance frameworks related to financial data (PCI-DSS, GDPR).
