We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior VCS Engineer with 7+ years of dedicated experience to join our Core Infrastructure Engineering team. This critical role involves the expert deployment, administration, and performance tuning of our large-scale, enterprise-wide Virtualization, Compute, and Storage (VCS) infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of VMware, diverse server hardware, and high-performance SAN/NAS storage platforms, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across the entire environment.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus :

Virtualization Management :

- Expertly deploy, configure, and maintain the enterprise VMware vSphere environment, including ESXi hypervisors, vCenter Server, and associated management components.

- Administer and support the VMware Horizon VDI environment, managing golden images, pools, persistence, and performance for end-user computing.

- Execute complex virtualization tasks including VM provisioning, resource allocation, performance tuning (CPU ready, memory ballooning, storage latency), regular patching, and advanced troubleshooting of hypervisor and cluster issues.

Compute Infrastructure :

- Serve as the administrator for multi-vendor server hardware platforms (e.g., Dell, HPE, Cisco UCS, Nutanix, IBM).

- Lead new hardware deployments, perform complex component upgrades, conduct routine firmware upgrades, and manage break/fix operations in coordination with hardware vendors.

- Manage and maintain converged/hyper-converged infrastructure platforms, specifically including Dell VxRail and Nutanix clusters.

Storage Administration and Data Protection :

- Operate, administer, and tune high-performance SAN/NAS storage systems across diverse platforms, including NetApp ONTAP (utilizing features like SnapMirror), HPE Alletra, IBM FlashSystem, and Pure Storage.

- Implement and manage data protection, backup, and recovery solutions using enterprise backup platforms such as Rubrik, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), or Commvault.

- Ensure data integrity, maintain replication schedules, and validate disaster recovery capabilities across the entire storage landscape.

Monitoring, Security & Compliance :

- Proactively monitor system performance metrics, troubleshoot alerts, and implement technical tuning improvements to maximize stability and resource utilization.

- Maintain secure VCS environments by implementing least-privilege access controls, configuring firewalls, and adhering strictly to established security policies and compliance frameworks.

Documentation & Collaboration :

- Create and maintain comprehensive, high-quality technical documentation for all VCS operational procedures, design specifications, configurations, and recovery plans.

- Collaborate effectively with networking, application development, and cybersecurity teams on infrastructure projects, incident resolution, and architecture planning.

Required Qualifications :

- 7+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, specifically focused on virtualization, server compute, and enterprise storage technologies.

- Deep technical familiarity with monitoring, logging, and remote support platforms such as Aria (vRealize Suite), Opsramp, Lakeside, and Splunk for performance analysis and incident response.

- Proven track record of excellent troubleshooting, technical documentation, and clear communication skills in high-stakes environments.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Demonstrated experience with scripting languages and Automation toolsets, including PowerShell (PowerCLI), Ansible, or Python, for configuration management and operational efficiency.

- Background working within financial services or other highly regulated environments, understanding stringent compliance and audit requirements.

- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., VCP, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Dell/HPE Server certifications).
