- Design, develop, and maintain features in a Ruby on Rails service supporting the payment offerings on the BigCommerce platform.

- Ensure production-grade functionality with adequate test coverage across all layers, proper instrumentation, and thorough documentation.

- Resolve production issues and participate in post-incident reviews to enhance reliability.

- 7+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily focused on Ruby on Rails.

- Strong knowledge of building and running production-grade systems (e.g., familiarity with logs, traces, metrics, feature flags, and live traffic debugging).

- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and Lightstep.

- A solid understanding of Domain Driven Design principles.

- Proven experience integrating third-party APIs and services, especially those involving complex state transitions (e.g., payment flows).

- Ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code, with experience in continuous integration and deployment practices.

- A product-driven mindset - you care about understanding the purpose behind your work. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience in payments, fintech, or ecommerce platforms is a significant advantage.
