Senior Software Engineer - Python/Ruby on Rails

Senior Software Engineers use their expertise to amplify the overall impact and output of the Product Development team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the technical design and drive your teams goals to their implementation, through the development of high-quality code, and of course, you will be hands-on and contribute technically as well. You will also contribute to creating a culture of collaboration and knowledge as a mentor to other engineers in the team. You will be working in the team that works on

Responsibilities :

- Backend Development (Ruby on Rails, Python)

- Frontend Development (Javascript, React, Redux)

- High-Level Design(Load Balancers, Distributed Databases, Stress/Load Testing, etc)

- Low-Level Design (Object-oriented programming and design patterns)

- Data Science & Machine Learning (Jupyter Workspaces and Workers to run models)

Requirements :

A proven track record of success in leading software development teams -

1. Strong technical mentorship is a must.

2. Experience building large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems and scaling web services that use or analyze large amounts of data.

3. High level of fluency and experience in technologies like

a. Ruby on Rails/Django/Flask,

b. REST APIs and Best Practices to manage APIs,

c. Relational Databases (MySQL/Postgresql),

d. In-memory data stores (Redis/Memcached),

e. Queueing systems (Sidekiq/Resque/RabbitMQ/Kafka),

f. Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS-EKS-Fargate),

g. Web Servers (Nginx/Apache),

h. Application servers (Puma/Passenger/Unicorn etc)

i. Observability (NewRelic/Grafana/Prometheus)

4. Experience with software development concepts like

a. Low-Level Design (Object-oriented programming and design, Design Patterns),

b. High-Level Design (Scaling, Load Balancers, Caching, Consistent Hashing, Storage, Architectural Patterns, Web and Application servers Protocols like HTTP, WebSockets, etc)

5. A passion for efficiency, collaboration, and establishing relationships with Design, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Data teams.

6. Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things. Scaler is growing fast and we are building new products and scaling existing ones, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too.

7. Project Management experience is a must since you would have to break down projects and assign resources to deliver them on aligned timelines
