Key Responsibilities (Admin-centric) :

Environment & Sandbox Management :

- Own provisioning, refresh, and lifecycle management of all Salesforce sandboxes (Dev, QA, UAT, Staging, Partial/Full).

- Define sandbox refresh cadence, data seeding strategy, post-refresh configuration checklist, and validation templates.

- Perform post-refresh tasks : user access, permission sets, profiles, integrations re-pointing, and test data validation.

- Manage change migration readiness across orgs and ensure metadata consistency.

Release Management & Deployment Governance :

- Act as the Salesforce Release Admin, coordinating releases across environments.

- Validate source packages for completeness, dependency issues, field-level security, and profile alignment.

- Manage deployment windows, freeze periods, blackout rules, and rollback execution.

- Maintain deployment calendars and communicate release plans to business & IT stakeholders.

Admin-Led CI/CD Enablement :

Support CI/CD pipelines from an Admin governance perspective :

- Review metadata packages for security, naming conventions, and best practices.

- Validate SFDX packages for correct inclusion of declarative components (Flows, Profiles, Permission Sets, Reports, Dashboards).

- Ensure pipelines handle Salesforce-specific requirements (profile diffs, destructive changes, FLS, object permissions).

Configuration & Declarative Change Oversight :

- Review all Admin-built changes (Flows, validation rules, page layouts, permission sets) before promotion.

Own governance for :

- Flow versioning & deactivation strategy.

- Profile & Permission Set deployment best practices.

- Reports & Dashboard migration and folder security.

Security & Access Control Administration :

Enforce Salesforce security standards across orgs :

- Profile & Permission Set governance.

- OWD, role hierarchy, sharing rules, and manual share model validations.

- Audit environment access post-deployment and sandbox refresh.

- Ensure compliance with data privacy and audit requirements.

Backup, Recovery & Data Integrity :

- Own Salesforce backup and restore process for both metadata and data.

- Validate restore readiness with tools like OwnBackup / Spanning or native exports.

- Periodically perform restore drills and maintain rollback playbooks.

Troubleshooting & RCA Ownership :

- Act as Level-2/Level-3 Admin support for deployment failures, Flow errors, profile conflicts, data visibility issues.

Lead Root Cause Analysis for :

- Failed deployments

- Missing access after releases

- Broken Flows & automation post-refresh

Documentation & Knowledge Management :

Maintain Admin SOPs :

- Sandbox Refresh Playbook

- Release Readiness Checklist

- Rollback & Hotfix SOP

- Environment Health Monitoring Guide

Must-Have Skills (Admin-Weighted) :

- >4 years of hands-on Salesforce Administration with Release & Environment Ownership.

Strong experience with :

- Sandbox lifecycle management & seeding strategy.

- Salesforce security model - Profiles, Permission Sets, OWD, Sharing Rules, Role Hierarchy.

Deep understanding of :

- Declarative tools : Flows, Validation Rules, Reports & Dashboards.

- Dependency handling for Flows, Profiles & Permission Sets during deployments.

- Practical working knowledge of SFDX & metadata formats for Admin-led deployments.

- Experience reviewing CI/CD pipelines from Salesforce Admin & governance lens.

- Salesforce Administrator / Platform App Builder certification.

Soft Skills :

- Strong stakeholder communication - able to translate technical release risks into business language.

- Ownership mindset - acts as the "gatekeeper" of production quality.

- Proactive in preventing failures, not just fixing them.

- Excellent documentation and mentoring skills.
