The Opportunity :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to lead a critical backend migration for a Policy and Claims Management platform. This role involves transitioning an existing PHP/Laravel backend to a modern Python-based architecture while maintaining seamless integration with our React/TypeScript frontend. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in modernizing a legacy system through a complete digital transformation initiative.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead architectural design and implementation of Python-based backend services.

- Design and implement RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL endpoints.

- Ensure seamless data migration strategies from PHP/Laravel to Python.

- Maintain API compatibility during transition to avoid frontend disruptions.

- Collaborate with frontend team for smooth integration with React/TypeScript.

- Work with infra/automation teams to align backend services with deployment pipelines.

- Document API specifications, system architecture, and migration procedures.

- Establish coding standards and best practices.

- Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews.

Required Technical Skills :

- Python Expertise : 7+ years of production Python development.

- Frameworks : Strong in FastAPI, Django, or Flask.

- Databases : SQL & NoSQL, with data migration experience.

- APIs : RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.

- Testing : pytest, unittest, TDD practices.

- Version Control : Git, branching strategies.

- Migration Experience : Proven track record in backend migrations, preferably PHP , Python.

Domain Knowledge (Preferred) :

- Insurance, financial services, or regulated industries.

- Policy management and claims workflows.

- Compliance and security standards.

Nice-to-Haves :

- Async Python (asyncio, aiohttp).

- Messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis).

- Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- ORM (SQLAlchemy, Django ORM).

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to simplify complex concepts for stakeholders.
