We are seeking a highly skilled Python Backend Engineer with a strong background in building scalable backend systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate is proficient in FastAPI, AWS cloud services, and database technologies, and has hands-on experience designing event-driven architectures using Amazon SQS. Experience with AI/ML model integration or data-driven applications is a strong plus.

This is a remote position with working hours from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM IST, ideal for professionals who prefer a late-start schedule and remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using FastAPI.

- Build and manage cloud-native applications using AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway, and IAM.

- Implement and optimize event-driven architectures with Amazon SQS and related messaging tools.

- Design and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.

- Collaborate with Data Science and AI/ML teams to integrate intelligent models into backend systems.

- Ensure secure API development using OAuth2, JWT, and other modern authentication/authorization methods.

- Follow best practices in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.

- Participate in system architecture planning, performance tuning, and scalability improvements.

- Engage in code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing within the engineering team.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5+ years of professional experience in Python backend development.

- Strong expertise in FastAPI, or Flask/Django with willingness and experience transitioning to FastAPI.

- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and services in the AWS ecosystem.

- Proven experience with Amazon SQS and other messaging/queueing tools.

- Proficiency in working with PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.

- Experience integrating AI/ML models or working with data-heavy applications is a plus.

- Knowledge of secure API practices, including OAuth2, JWT, and role-based access controls.

- Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, and container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS).

- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote, cross-functional environment.
