Job Overview :

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with strong FastAPI expertise to join a long-term, high-ownership project on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will take end-to-end ownership of backend application development, actively participate in business discussions, and lead a small team of engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

This role requires a strong technical leader who can translate business requirements into robust backend architectures while ensuring best practices in coding, performance, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python and FastAPI.

- Architect and implement RESTful APIs following best practices for performance, security, and scalability.

- Take end-to-end ownership of backend development, from requirement analysis to production deployment.

- Participate in business and stakeholder discussions to understand requirements and propose technical solutions.

- Lead and mentor a team of 34 backend developers, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

- Design and manage integrations with relational and NoSQL databases.

- Develop scalable solutions using asynchronous programming and microservices architecture.

- Implement and maintain containerized applications using Docker.

- Work with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP for application deployment and scaling.

- Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and best practices.

- Write and maintain automated tests using PyTest.

- Create and maintain API documentation using tools such as Swagger / OpenAPI.

- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and frontend teams to ensure smooth deployments and releases.

- Troubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis and resolution.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications :

- 9+ years of professional experience in Python development (mandatory).

- Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI framework.

- Proven experience in RESTful API design and development.

- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, etc.).

- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming in Python.

- Experience working with microservices-based architectures.

- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.

- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

- Experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest.

- Familiarity with API documentation tools (Swagger / OpenAPI).

- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with business stakeholders.
